ReadyNC provides the most critical information needed to prepare for and recover from typical disasters that impact North Carolina. For people living in or visiting North Carolina, this is an all-in-one tool for emergency preparedness.
· Current weather conditions
· Real-time traffic conditions where you are, by route or region
· Power outages near you and where you can report outages
· Open shelters near you (including which accept pets)
· Counties being evacuated
· How to prepare for and be safe during typical hazards that impact NC
· How to create an emergency plan and kit
· Real-time information from stream and river flood gages near you.
· Who to contact for assistance when disasters strike.
The application does not replace calling 9-1-1 for emergencies. This app should not be used as a substitute for weather radio or other emergency alerts during severe weather.
ReadyNC draws data from many different sources. The ReadyNC application requires network connections and location services to access this information. The state provides no guarantees of cellular network reliability, data availability or validity of information outside our control.
ReadyNC is sponsored by North Carolina Emergency Management, NC Department of Public Safety and NC Citizen Corps. For more information, visit readyNC.org.

What’s the use?
Quick info, and some of it can be handy, being that all the info is at one place. The biggest problem I have, and the reason for 2 stars, is that everyone has been telling us to download this app for evacuation, weather, and shelter info during the hurricane.
The weather is simply daily forecasts. The shelters are listed in no order I can tell. You can search, but YOU CANNOT SEARCH FOR TOWNS! You have to search for the names of the shelters. How in the world is someone supposed to know that information? For that reason, it’s almost useless for the very purpose which North Carolinians have been told to download it.
Live traffic maps are useless. Waste of time to download
When you click on the icons on the live traffic update maps you sometimes get a pop up box that says undefined, undefined. When you try to click on other icons on the roads nothing happens. No information at all. For an app that the state of NC says is a must download it’s absolutely terrible. It could be great if they had someone develop them an app that knew what they were doing. If you want to know how to get from a to b during a storm download the Waze app instead.
Falls very short
This app had a lot of potential but doesn't do anything well. Most of the links direct you to the NCDOT mobile site, which fails to properly display on every mobile device. There are also a number of pages within the site that redirect to another page and another page and another page before failing to load the information you're searching for.
I hope that the state government puts money towards redesigning this app so that it can provide useful information efficiently.
