Description

Encourage early readers to develop the skills essential for reading with over 100 interactive lessons designed to solidify the reader’s ability to connect the sounds they hear with the letter patterns found in words. ReadySetRead’s lessons expose the student to the letters and sounds in over 500 different words. Individual lessons consist of three types of word activities (Build-A-Word, Word Chain and Sentence Scramble) and then put those words in context in one of the app’s 24 engaging and original stories.

ReadySetRead's teaching methodology is based on the researched scope and sequence of the Targeted Reading Intervention program, developed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The app includes a Parent's section that provides detailed explanations of the app’s activities and gives parents a concise explanation of the teaching process with references for further information. The app also allows the parent to monitor the student's progress through the lessons, as well as his or her performance on individual sounds, lessons and activities. Do you have more than one child learning to read? No problem - ReadySetRead can be configured to support multiple simultaneous students, each with his or her own progress and performance tracking.

ReadySetRead provides a safe listening and viewing experience for children of all ages. The graphics and audio are designed to be child-like in nature and the choice of words and subject matter for the stories is age-appropriate.

A fantastic learning tool for teachers and parents

This is a great new app that teaches word patterns, vowel sounds and reading skills. I am currently using it with a student I tutor and have used it in the past. I can customize it for my students and keep up with their progress. I have shown it to parents who also really love it! It's exactly what I need.

Love this App!

So glad it has been updated for newer iPads. My students love using this and seeing their progress as they work through the lessons. The progress tracking is great too especially since it can be emailed and printed.

Affordable learn to read app

I am homeschooling my kindergarten son and have found this app to be an integral part of my phonics teaching. The lessons in the app are similar to the All about reading/all about spelling curricula that I used with my older child....but this app is so much more affordable and easier to use. I like that the app makes use of moving around letter tiles, mimicking a tactile manipulative. Each lesson is focused on review of a specific vowel sound, asking the child to form words, change words by altering consonant sounds, and finally read small sentences in a story. The narrator in the app is sweet and gentle sounding, and the illustrations simple and non-distracting (like the BOB books). I would recommend this app for any child learning to read!
