Let's fight back for our privacy!
With increasing invasion of our privacy by companies that make money using our personal data, it's time for us to fight back.
Popular social networking sites analyze photos that you share, to extract as much information as possible. Smartphones add a variety of such information, called metadata, to the photos. Most photos include sensitive data such as your location. To make things worse, AI algorithms have become more accurate and can derive even more information from your photos.
Rebels' Cam fights back the privacy invaders using three privacy levels:
Level 1 (low): all metadata stored in the photo (location, timestamp, camera settings etc.) are erased.
Level 2 (medium): dummy metadata are inserted in to your photos. Photos taken seconds apart will now appear as they were taken at two locations across the globe.
Level 3 (High): In additions to adding dummy metadata, Rebels' Cam will add small artifacts to your photos. These artifacts are known to mislead AI algorithms that analyze the photos.
The algorithms used in levels 2 and 3 cannot be disclosed for obvious reasons. However, they are based on published research results.
Rebels' Cam is free, contains no ads, and does not track you.
The fight for privacy is an ongoing arms race. While we can't guarantee complete privacy protection, we will continue to upgrade Rebels' Cam in parallel to advances in Image Analysis and AI technologies.
