Using the power of Gemini 1.5 Pro, we allow users to generate quizzes on ANYTHING, and this is available completely free of charge!

All you need is an API key provided by Google, and you're set to use our app. We include only essential AI features, and this allows you to keep as much data stored locally as possible, stay under rate limits, and have a very fast and productive experience. Here are the features we offer:
- Quiz generation: Add all your attachments (Images, URL, PDFs, YouTube) and we'll make you a quiz
- Free Response Question Grading: When you are asked a free response question, we have Gemini grade your answers AND provide you with feedback on how you can improve your answer.
- Explain Answer: If you don't understand why a question is correct/incorrect, simply press explain and we'll explain all the answers
- Performance Feedback: At the end of a quiz, Gemini takes a look at all your responses and gives you feedback on what to review/study/remember so that you can perform better on the same quiz next time.

Here's a little more information on our attachments:
- Images: upload up to 5 images (such as pages from a textbook). We don't ask for Photos permissions, so you can ensure we don't have access to anything you don't want us to have access to.
- URL: We support adding URLs to any webpage, article, PDF, or even a YouTube video. YouTube integration means that we scan the video's transcript and pass that into a model.
- PlainText: This is the most foundational attachment type, and it means you can paste long sets notes from anywhere into Recap.

We also have ways for users to share their quizzes with friends through the use of a .recap file that can be opened in the app. This can be very useful for study groups!

We care about our user base, and that's why we've added Spanish localization as our first language to support.

Recap AI - Promising, But Room for Improvement

Recap AI is a solid tool for generating quizzes from various attachments, and it does a lot right with a sleek and modern user interface that feels intuitive. The ability to attach links and images to create quizzes is a standout feature, working decently well and making the quiz creation process fairly straightforward.

However, there are some areas where Recap AI could improve. The app currently uses the Gemini model, which is somewhat underwhelming compared to more powerful options like Claude 3.5 Sonnet or an open-source model with Groq fast inference. This choice impacts the overall quality of the AI’s responses, making them feel less refined.

Additionally, there are a few functional limitations. The history button doesn’t work as expected, which can be frustrating if you’re trying to review past interactions. Another drawback is the lack of an autosuggest feature for the number of questions to generate—users are left to decide on their own, which can be a bit cumbersome.

Overall, Recap AI has a lot of potential, but it’s held back by some of its current model and functional choices. With a few updates, particularly around the AI model and user experience, it could become a much more powerful tool.

I appreciate the review with the encouraging remarks.

I understand and empathize with your concern on the model choice, as it isn’t a standard production choice, but I chose to use it because:

1. This is actually my submission for the Gemini Developer Competition.
2. I didn’t want to have users pay to use my service.

I definitely will look into using Grok and integrating more powerful models, giving users granularity on quiz generation.

Regarding the automatic question count decision, I definitely could add an option for that. I can see where it can be useful.

On the history feature, I am slightly aware of some of the issues that users may have, but I’m not sure specifically what issue you are going through. Feel free to submit an issue on our GitHub repository with more details (there is a link in the Settings page).
