Description

On-device AI enables you to chat with your journal!

Recollect is private AI journaling app. It uses on-device machine learning to safely and privately help you journal. It creates prompts for the people in your life. It suggests photos you might want to write about.

We designed Recollect because we love journaling. The app is designed to help you journal. All over the app, little suggestions will appear that are meant to help you write more.
We use on-device machine learning to power our intelligent features. That means that all your data is 100% private and never sent anywhere.

• AI prompts about your life and your relationships
• Private on-device AI helps suggest photos or videos you might be likely to write about.
• Prompts are personalized and intelligent. They'll even ask you about specific people in your life. "Are you still angry at your boss?"
• Reminders help you maintain a consistent habit
• You can easily attach videos, audio, or Live Photos to your entries.
• Home Screen widget prompts
• For You Recommendations: Helps find entries you would be likely to read about
• Map/Calendar/Photo/List views for past entries
• The design is beautiful for all entries. If you write a lot or just a little: every entry is still gorgeous.
• Unlimited Journals: think of these as folders or books
• Tags: Easily tag entries so you can find them later
• People: Automatically tag your entries by the people you write about.. Kind of like how you would tag a face in a photo.

AI in a journal?

Nothing personal, I’m sure you worked hard on this project but by very principle I would never use an AI journal.

Seems wrong on every level.

Nothing feels right about cozying up to your Journal to share your deepest thoughts with an AI bot.

I don’t know why people can’t see this. They think everything about technology is the greatest. But there is a dark side to it. And when the consciousness of the society and those creating the tech is not high enough technology can be a very dangerous game.

Few are willing to talk about this. The hive mind mentality of much of humanity, just follows in blind trust to what their tech gods and other so-called leaders put into their minds, without questioning.

I doubt this review will even get posted in this time of censorship of anything that deviates from the conditioned norm — but let’s see and if so, will anyone agree with me …?

I am giving you 3 stars not on the merits of your work, but on principle. And that 3 should really be a 1. I just wanted to make a statement that will likely fall on mostly deaf ears. After all you are a human being, and deserve to be treated with decency and respect.

Developer Response ,

Yes we worked very hard on this project. It uses AI to recommend photos without duplicates and to identify the names of people you are writing about. And it transcribes audio to text.

It doesn’t integrate with a chat bot like you’re accusing and I would really appreciate if you moved your feedback to social media instead of doing something that harms our livelihood

Aesthetically pleasing UI

I really like the UI it doesn’t get in your way and puts you in a mood journal. Although some aspects of the UI is buggy, I’m sure a future update will fix it.

Crashes

I went to use this, got the lifetime, which I want a refund for at this point because that was a waste of money. I can’t even upload anything from Day One. It crashes every single time I attempt this and iCloud sync doesn’t work either. Worse product in existence.
