Description

Recs is your places – made simple. Save the places you love or want to try, share recs with friends, match on places you both wanna go, and go – because the best way to explore is together.

SAVE. Put your faves and the spots you’ve been wanting to try all in one place. Go ahead and delete all those random notes you have – with Recs, you’ll always remember the name of that place.

SHARE. Recs makes it easy to share a hole-in-the-wall bookstore or hot new sushi spot. Get trusted recs from friends so you know your experience will be 5 stars.

MATCH + GO. Finding cool spots to try is easy. But agreeing on a place that everyone is down to try? That gets tricky. Place-matching takes the stress out of making plans. Just match with friends who wanna go to the same place and decide on the deets.

POPULAR. No friends on Recs yet? No problem. Select the ‘Popular’ button to view popular places from across the Recs community – where every rec is someone’s 5-star review.

COLLECTIONS. Your organization BFF. View your spots organized into collections and have all your faves right at your fingertips.

IMPORT EXISTING SAVED LISTS FROM GOOGLE MAPS to quickly get started on effectively organizing your faves in one place.

EXPORT YOUR PLACES to a file whenever you want, so you can build your collection with confidence!

Promising!

I really like the idea of the app! However, I do think there are slight adjustments that would help out such as: 1) having the option to see the places jnder the “want to go” curated list, rather than having the “want to go” places I saved appear under “ my recs” list (which seems like on the pics promoting the app you can do that, but not for me at least) and if 2) if we had an option to curate places into a “visited” category. I suggest the latter, because not every place I end up going is one that I would recommend. Having the option to at least store them in that category and make a mental note of why I didn’t like a place would be nice. I’d maybe considering having the option of “not recommend” public, but I understand if the intention is to be more “positive” in general. 3) Also, the comment box always appearing is annoying, specially if I don’t have anything written. Maybe having the option to not see then would make it easier to focus ok the actual places listed.

Really fun but needs some adjustments

I really love Recs! It’s relatively easy to use, however, once I’ve searched something, it kicks me back to the main page and I have to re do my original search to keep adding things. I also wish it had a little better way of recommending places for me. It will continue to recommend places I’ve added my responses to and not anything new. I think it would also be cool to have something like a wheel to choose from new places to go to nearby in case you can’t decide. Outside of those issues, I’ve really enjoyed the app and am excited to see it grow!

A lot of improvements to be had

- get rid of autocorrect when typing in a location. So many locations are not real words, so it’s annoying when autocorrect changes what I typed (the name of the business). Eg Hila, a gelato place in SF. First time I typed it in, it auto corrected to Hill, second time it auto corrected to Hula
- have the ability to see what everybody has recommended. I haven’t connected with friends on recs, but I still want to access the wisdom of the crowds
- have the ability to click and select locations in the map as opposed to typing them in. Oftentimes I’m in a new area and want to be able to explore what’s around vs having a specific destination in mind
- have the ability to mark a place off as visited. Currently the only options are “wanna go” or “recommended”. But I want to have a running log of places I’ve been, even if they aren’t recommended.
- offer best of lists for a city. Eg most recommended parks, theaters, restaurants, coffee shops, etc
