Description

Red Onion II is the follow up app to the popular Red Onion Browser. With this version you have a totally redesigned app that takes advantage of all the enhancements on the iOS platform over the years. Same great anonymous browsing you are accustomed to with a better interface and even better anonymity.

We made the app with your anonymity in mind from the ground up. The app use the new iOS Network Tunneling feature to now tunnel all traffic over the Tor anonymization network, greatly improving your speed and browsing experience.

INTUITIVE DESIGN
User friendly interface allows you to browse comfortably without missing the features for your main browser. All the features you are accustomed to in an anonymous browser.

FREQUEST SITES
Quickly access your favorites sites using bookmarks

Important Notes:
- Web browsing/downloading through the anonymization network will be SIGNIFICANTLY SLOWER than through a non-tunneled browser like Safari. This is necessary and a small price to pay to keep your identity protected.
- This product uses the Tor distributed networks is produced independently from the Tor(r) anonymity software and carries no guarantee from The Tor Project about quality, suitability or anything else.

Much better

I like how this browser while it is in use encrypts all device data traffic — just in case your Tor connection is temporarily lost for whatever reason, and the VPN automatically turns off when the app is closed. I also love the interface of this version — Firefox! There are many new features, and those features are easier to get to, and this app is just better organized. My concern though, is what/where does the VPN connect to?

Very Unfortunate

I used to use the original Red Onion browser all the time and loved it a lot. I recently redownloaded it and found various bugs that I don't remember encountering such as JavaScript not being able to be turned off even when you disable it in the settings on the app.
When I saw there was a Red Onion II, I was both excited but also kind of upset. I purchased Red Onion with the intention of supporting an application that although was still obviously being developed upon, was an awesome concept and so far execution. However, I did this with the expectation that it would be updated and such for bug fixes at least. But obviously instead, the creator made a new application.
So although upset, I concluded that I did enjoy and got use out of the original application and if it built upon that experience I was willing to cough up the $2.
To my disappointment however, the application crashes every time you try to open it. I restarted my phone, checked for updates, nothing. I am on the most current iOS as well as being on an iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is the top of the line and newest iPhone available as of writing this review.
It is for this reason I will be requesting a refund as well as writing a 2 star review. I would have given it a 1 star, but I do think that the developer can fix this if he wants to. If it is fixed I will buy it again just as fast as I refunded it.
But for now, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP.

I’m sorry, but I like the original Red Onion better

Not only is there no indication of where the VPN is connecting to, but I cannot find any way I can choose a different location for the VPN. Not just that, but when I try to log into certain sites it does not log me in at all and just acts like I didn’t even attempt to login, sending me back to the same login page. I can’t find a way to get around this and stay logged in or login in general on many different sites, I have no idea what the problem is I cannot figure it out. These issues need to be addressed, and this would be a very good app if they are. I feel like I paid money for an app that I thought would be superior to the original, but is in no way superior at all IMO. Sorry.
