Reggy Bear provides a modern, elegant environment for exploring and testing regular expressions.
There are many regex testers out there, but this one is designed to be especially nice for Mac coders. Each regular expression can be saved individually, along with text examples and notes. Save them with your projects, version them as they evolve over time, and pass them around.
It makes using patterns effortless in any language, even ones that require escaping elements for use in strings, as in Swift and Objective-C.
Reggy Bear features:
» Save regex, text, and notes together
» Scope-based colorization
» Contextual input menu of common syntax
» Detailed match results
» Copy/paste shortcuts
» Unicode support
» Multiline regex support
» Persistent edit history
» File editing
» File/folder renaming
» Dark mode support
You can also use Reggy Bear to directly edit text, files, and even use it as a sophisticated file renamer (with undo!). And you can save your favorite hard-won regex for the future.
You can use saved files to effectively give you a unit test set for every regex. You can then improve and expand your formulas without losing any progress you've made.

Slick interface and very functional too!
I keep forgetting how to do things, and having one place to save solutions and retest them is a huge benefit of this app!
Okay but there are better one out there.
The dark mode is great. The ability to save the expression and even notes about the expression are great features. But, you can't click a match to go to that match. You can't select the regex engine /standard used, you can't select what syntax (target language) to copy to the clipboard. When there is an error in the expression the input field goes redish but there is no advice given as to what error you made in your expression. No way to change the font size without changing it for the entire system also is annoying. And, though it has nothing to do with the app's functionality, I don't care for the non-standard app icon or the non-standard document icon.
Terrific app for testing out my regular expressions. It's a veritable laboratory of character matching.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
