Description

There's already a couple of apps available that deal with finding rhymes. Unfortunately, they mostly only take care of the last syllable of a single word. This means that 'dorothy' would be returned as something that rhymes with the word 'family', because they both end with '-y'.

Matter of the fact is that this rhyme is technically not very sophisticated. This is because the word contains more pronounced syllables than just the last one. The first part of 'family' (the 'a' sound) is completely ignored!

This is where reimmund steps in. It uses all pronounced syllables of a given word or phrase to find those juicy multi-syllable rhymes. This means that a search for 'family' would spit out results like 'manatee', 'melon tree' and 'rental fee' and 'LSD' - notice how the first syllable (fam-) as well as the last syllable (-ly) match with the results. Now those are proper rhymes.

Korvidia ,

crazy slick with a few bugs

It’s pretty damned cool, and kudos to the developer for this massive achievement in coding. The way it picks up on half rhymes and also allows you to emphasize certain syllables and to some extent cross language barriers into other dictionaries is friggin gorgeous & truly unique. I know it’s unique because I went on an obsessive downloading spree of all similar apps & this is hands down one of the best. Amazingly, it’s totally free for all the major features. I’d donate to this dev just for the crazy amount of ingenuity behind the app, if nothing else.

The only cons are it’s a little slow and I wish it had a landscape mode because you can’t screenshot your rhyme phrases all in one view in portrait, and when you flip it to landscape on phone, the header & footer menus obscure almost the entire screen. But it’s still miles above most other apps aside from latency issues (and it seems to be able to work in the background, at least on newer iOS versions), and all for free, so 5 stars it is.

Developer Response ,

not really. look at reimmund‘s app intro to see an explanation of the difference, or just try entering a word with more than just one pronounced syllable ;)
