You are desperate for more sustainable products and offerings. You are frustrated with the waste & environmentally harmful practices of businesses. You know we're running out of time. Yet, businesses are moving towards sustainability at a snail's pace. What gives?

Well, put simply - businesses don't know you care. They don't know why you moved on to another brand. They don't know you don't want plastic. They don't know you'd spend more money or come back more often if they did better.

There's a massive data gap in sustainability. Beyond a few landmark studies and general sustainability statistics - there's no granular, business, or industry-specific consumer data to help move businesses from insight to action. Businesses are riding the status quo train, waiting for their consumers (and their dollars) to take the lead.

Remark exists to fill this gap.

Through this app, we give you the "consumer" a direct line to decision-makers (whether it be the restaurant owner down the street or an executive of a major corporation) through email. We then provide businesses with the data & resources they need to make the switch to more sustainable operations.

Emails are sent semi-anonymously (we only include your first name and last initial) and we give you visibility into whether your email has been read or responded to.

1) Discourage the Bad
• Ask your grocery store to bring back bulk items
• Ask a food or beverage packaged goods company to reduce plastic in their packaging
• Ask an online retailer to use sustainable packaging materials.
• Ask a restaurant to find an alternative to styrofoam
• Ask your bank to Divest from Fossil Fuels

2) Encourage the good:
• Tell a restaurant you appreciate them using compostables and reusables
• Tell your grocery store you appreciate them allowing personal containers
• Send appreciation for an online retailer's use of sustainable packaging

“Remark makes having an impact manageable. With a 7-month-old, both of us working full time. Remark makes it really easy and I’m grateful for that.“ - Katie

“I haven’t seen anything like this before, feels like it gives me a chance to be amplified. This is the new Twitter of consumer voice.“ - Meghan

“The whole thing is positive instead of negative ranting. As a customer, I feel like I finally have a say. Definitely going to be using this regularly.” - Saloni

“We appreciate your note regarding our packaging. Improving the sustainability of our packaging is at the top of our list.” - Ariel, CEO of Parachute Home

“I appreciate your feedback! I’m happy to share the initiatives that we are working on, would you have time for a discussion? ” - Leesah, Global Sustainability Director at Costco Wholesale

“Thank you for your note. We want you to know that we are actively exploring ways to reduce single-use plastics.” - Kent, CEO of Highlights Magazine for Children

If this resonates with you, please scroll up and download the app. Use Remark throughout the day whenever you encounter (un)friendly business sustainability practices.

Because the system won't change until we tell it to.

Amazing resource to make your voice heard easier

Sustainable living is extremely important to me and especially during the last year at home when we rely on delivery/ take out for so much. Finding ways to talk to businesses can be hard when you’re not happy (or very happy even) about their operations. Remark makes it a TON easier to do that.

They figure out how to contact them and create a form email for you to reach out anonymously to the business.

For example, I got a response back from Costco about their excessive plastic usage. Costco pointed to their published sustainable goals and practices.

The best method to create change you want to see is starting a conversation- this is a really simple and intuitive way to do that.

Props to Remark for starting the conversation.

Finally a voice

It’s easy to feel helpless about how much plastic is out there polluting our planet. I’m trying to do my part in reducing the amount of plastic waste I’m creating. Remark has been great in giving me a voice to tell businesses that reducing plastic waste is an important issue to me.

Awesome product

I’ve been following this effort for a long time now, and I’m really excited that it’s now an app. I do wish that there was an SMS component, like iMessage, that will stay in the future. That said, I’m really glad that this exists nonetheless. The creators are also nice people, which helps a lot.
