Senatom ,

What am I missing?

It's amazing to me that -- as far as I can see -- there is simply no way to manually-reorder the files in the working list. So many renaming tasks involve serializing (adding ordered numbers to the names of files), and don't you want to get your files listed in a preferred order before numbering them? I know I do.

The only workaround I've found involves consciously adding your files to the app in your preferred order first, and that's pretty cumbersome. Given all the things this app can do, and all the flexibility it has to speed up the renaming of files, the inability to manually modify the order of the working list is a big lost opportunity.

Hi, good point. I will look into it.

The. Best. Renamer.

I've used Renamer (the old version) for years, my job required me to take photos of classrooms, rename them (Building Room) and add sequential numbers to upload to a shared database. I felt lost without it after I updated to Mojave without checking for compatability. I did not realize the app name had changed, so I used the Finder rename feature, but it feels like using a machete instead of a scalpel.
No other renamer app has the granularity Rename X has. The screen shot says it all. This new version adds presets (so I don't have to remember to change the serialze to "after") and I can change case, change extentions. It's is the Swiss Army knife of renaming apps. I am so very grateful to the developer for keeping this lovely app alive. Well worth the (low) price.

Best File Renaming App & Worth The Price

The is the best file renaming app I’ve found and it’s reasonably priced. I’m writing this app needs to appear in the App Store search results because it’s works well, has a lot of options, and is really simple to use and understand. I know it’s not free but it’s worth the 99 cents.

This app was originally called Rename and I’ve been using this app for years but after upgrading my Mac OS it never comes up in my App Store searches. So after searching and trying different free renaming apps for a while I finely found the developer online and found that they renamed it. Anyways, if you need to rename a bunch of files…this is the best app for it. Cheers.
