Repo Man is an application that is designed to backup git repositories using the git mirror functionality to clone a bare repository. This application integrates with GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket or through manually added SSH urls to automatically backup and mirror repositories locally should a service outage occur (because git is not a permanent backup solution). Reclaim your code locally on disk where it can be backed up to a NAS, DAS, or cloud provider for offsite storage.
In addition to mirroring the repository, the real power comes with the Integrations in Repo Man that let you clone any dependencies and link it to the repository. Repo Man ships with the ability to automatically backup any git submodules or Swift Packages (for projects with a Package.resolved file), but additional plugins can be written via a JavaScript plugin architecture to automatically surface additional git URLs that should be backed up by Repo Man. New Features
- GitHub Enterprise support — Connect to self-hosted GitHub Enterprise Server instances using a Personal Access Token. Back up GHE repositories alongside GitHub.com, GitLab, and Bitbucket. Multiple GHE servers are supported simultaneously.
- Working Copy — Enable a per-repository option to maintain a browsable checkout on disk. After each backup, Repo Man clones a working copy locally from the mirror so you can browse files without a network connection. The branch is configurable per repository.
- Export Clone: tag support — Export Clone now lets you choose between exporting a branch or a specific tag.
- Export Clone: include dependencies — When exporting, optionally bundle the repository's dependencies into a Dependencies subfolder inside the zip archive.
- Add repository by URL — In the Add Repositories sheet, paste an HTTP/HTTPS or SSH URL to search for and add any specific repository, including public repos not associated with a connected account.
- Hide menu bar icon — A new toggle in General Settings lets you hide the Repo Man menu bar icon. Repo Man prevents hiding both the Dock icon and menu bar icon simultaneously.
- Reset Backup Folder — A new option in Backup Settings wipes the backup folder contents and triggers a clean full backup.
Other Improvements
- Automatic backups now prevent App Nap and wake from sleep to run scheduled backups reliably in the background.
- Backup folder structure now uses clear host-style provider names (GitHub.com, GitLab.com, Bitbucket.org). Existing backups are migrated automatically on first launch.
