I’ve been looking for an app to capture and share personal photos for life’s big and small moments. Since many photos include photos of my kids, privacy is super important to me as is having control over use and visibility of the photos. And Retro has delivered!

I love how easy it is to post and review photos, and the weekly and yearly recaps are a wonderful delight. I also love how it incentivizes posting by locking the week until you post, which prevents followers from lurking without sharing. The whole design and experience makes it feel more intimate and real unlike other social media that ends up feeling performative and full of ads.

Retro is a throwback to the days of the original social networks. The promise of sharing freely with your friends and family and nothing else. The desire to share with close friends has not changed but the platforms have moved on. Retro brings back those delightful moments. Loving it so far. Make sure you invite your friends in order for the app to shine.

I am breaking my addiction to Instagram and Facebook, and this is so much better than those platforms because it lets me click on pictures quickly and not feel like they need to be edited or filtered. It feels like a lot less pressure, but I still get to share pictures of my life!
