I wanted to like this... but its just not well made

First, I love Ring products. My entire house is covered in ring products and camera. I also use Ring at my office. The products themselves are awsome and quality is amazing.

Having said that, this app is awful. It barely does the basics of what is needed. Literally the basics and at that it isn't completly reliable.

The things I do like is that it throws up a little window of each camera when it is triggered. That is awsome. But thats about it. What I am looking for is something more. This app but expanded. I would love to see this desktop app mimic the IOS app for Ring. Now that would be awsome. I am hoping Ring can roll out some much needed updates with this.

Update to 2.8.1 Requires Restart and Still Needs Work

Had some trouble with the app after installing the update, and it finally launched after restarting the computer. Now it won’t quit properly - just hangs and requires a force quit.

In addition, it still needs added functionality. The video library is nice, and ability to download them is also handy for archiving events, but it needs so much more. The computer app should have the exact same administrative functions you are provided in the mobile app (and maybe even the website). My biggest pet peeve... although the world is so connected with their mobile devices these days, it would be nice to set my motion zones on a computer screen with a mouse instead of having to try and do this on a little phone screen where it doesn’t even display the whole camera view or even let you push your zones outside the (screen) visible area where you know the camera is seeing.

Overall, it would be nice to have a single point where I can change every single thing instead of having to bounce between app, website, or mobile app to change something. Computers have the most processing power, storage, and network bandwidth (if wired) of all our devices. There are plenty of resources to do it all. Let’s use it.

Years of video latency. Unusable LIVE

I've owned this Ring for 2-3 years. It's caught people trying to break in and that's great however the lack of 24/7 recording, the reliance on a trigger, means that many events are not captured in time. As a doorbell answering system, sound quality is poor. Basically, the images and the responsiveness are fictional. I've done network checks, added extenders to wifi and no improvement. Unless someone is sitting at your door for several minutes, there's a good chance you're going to be disappointed day or night. Secondly, the Neighbors application doesn't allow you to see exact criminal activity locations which hurts efforts to identify which homes are at risk. Neighbors can't exchange photos with each other directly after the initial video and again, the apps are full of moments that don't have enough video before the trigger. Nest is 24/7 and it makes a difference.
