Ratings and Reviews
Clothes are clean with little time and effort
See a lot of negative reviews - they seem to fall into two camps of people that are either super particular about their clothes and detergent type or people that have had genuine screw ups (e.g. lost clothes, no show valet, etc). For me, as a guy who doesn’t have any detergent allergies or special requests, the service has been really convenient and time saving. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but for me they’ve always been on time and have returned my clothes clean and reasonably folded on the ~5 occasions I’ve used them so far. They were even able to reschedule once for me on short notice. I suspect if one is busy enough to need to use rinse, typically they only leave a review if they have a really horrible or really spectacular experience - the frequency of negative reviews here I think is misleading.
Rude unhelpful & puts customers at risk
I've used Rinse a few times and the service of pickup/dropoff has been inconsistent but ok. They have lost two of my socks but I figured this is a thing that sometimes happens. However, the last order came back more strongly scented than previous ones and I have now been walking around with a rash all over my legs from wearing pants I sent out in the last order. I have had "hypoallergenic" selected in my preferences since the very beginning and contacted CS asking if they could use a fragrance and dye free detergent as I am allergic to even some detergents that claim to be hypoallergenic including Tide Free and Gentle which once left me calling my doctor for an emergency appt for cortisol because my eyelid had swelled up to the size of a ping pong ball from sleeping ok a pillowcase washed with the detergent. Rinse customer service was dismissive, rude and unhelpful and only repeatedly told me that they do indeed use Tide Free and Gentle as their hypoallergenic option and it is the only option. They are completely unconcerned with their customer well being. Thankfully I only had easy wash and dry items laundered by them and not all of my clothes. Every laundromat and wash & dry I have ever been to in the city has All Free and Clear and most have eco/organic options. They've lost a customer.
Save yourself the hassle. I used Rinse for almost a year. In that time I had a few cycles come back with detergent stains - no real biggie right? They would pick them up and re-clean. A little annoying since it happened about 4 times, but it was okay.
The kicker came when I sent my duvet in for dry cleaning. I got back some random person’s un cleaned duvet and then one of my blankets that was covered in dirt and debris. I reached out and they came and collected the wrong items, but it took A WEEK AND A HALF to even hear about if they could find my lost item or not. I had to reach out every three days because there’s no such thing as follow up from their customer support team. Once they deemed that they couldn’t find it, it took another 2.5 weeks to get reimbursed for it, which I also had to continuously follow up because no one could actually give information about it.
I’ve told the rest of my friends and family in the Bay just to skip this service. It seems like it’d be helpful and a huge time saver but just don’t. Save yourself the hassle and having to deal with a company that can’t even be bothered to say “sorry we lost this, let me give you an update of X.”
