Rocco Fridge 17+

I was able to pair to my fridge without much hassle and connect to WiFi but the info I see is out of sync with what the control panel displays and there’s no way to know if the settings for “quiet” vs “smart” are being followed. I hear the compressor running constantly on quiet mode and the app says the fridge is set a degree warmer than I have it set to, says the lights are on when the lights are off, etc. and pressing buttons on the app doesn’t make anything happen in the fridge.

I was excited to be able to see inside the fridge, expecting to get a camera feed but that functionality doesn’t appear to be implemented yet. I hope when the app is finished they allow a raw feed to be accessed as well as the image recognition it sounds like they’re going for when mentioning learning.

This app could be great if the responsiveness would increase (if commands can’t be completed show me an error don’t just say the lights are on if they never came on) and when the camera is implemented. I’ll update my review when that happens.

I just received my Rocco fridge this week. It was easy to connect to the app and my wifi (no errors!) and the controls work well.

There is a 1 or 2 second lag between the app and the fridge, but it’s fine. When a control is pressed, perhaps the app could show a spinner/progress UI until the fridge has updated. This would help the user understand the status of their request and prevent multiple requests. Regardless, I do like the fan and temperature settings.

My bigger issue is what’s going on with the internal fridge camera. I’ve had my fridge for just 2-3 days and it’s uploaded… 1.3GB (!!) of data to Rocco’s servers. Within the app, there is just a “Learning mode” message saying, “You are one of the first people to have a fridge…”, which doesn’t describe what’s being uploaded from the camera and how it is being used.

To be honest, I don’t really care about the camera feature. It just feels scummy to advertise it as if it fully works and be uploading/using data from the “first people to have a fridge” to build out the feature. It should at least be advertised as beta and the camera uploads should be opt-in during this training period.

I’m on about hour 6 of attempting to connect the app to the fridge and update the Rocco. Unfortunately there’s no indication if it’s working properly but unless this thing has a multi terabyte update it should have been completed a few times over. I’ve tried a few times each for numerous hours. The fridge really doesn’t have any additional functionality without the app so I’m hoping they can improve it in the future. The fridge is absolutely not worth the cost at this stage but I’d probably buy it again just because I like the aesthetic. Also side note my manual controls for the temp stopped working after purchasing and it’s stuck at the lowest temp which freezes most of my drinks on the upper shelves so the fridge capacity is only half useable for me. I’m hoping they update the app so I might be able to connect and control the temperature that way.
