It’s a lot of fun till it isn’t
Don’t get me wrong, the game is a lot of fun and can be entertaining for hours on end if it treats you right. But there lies the problem. The matchmaking system doesn’t take into account any “strength” of opponents leaving you stuck with a teammate that never contributes anything to the team, but you both suffer for it. While this is a good strategic aspect of the game, I still think there needs to be a limit on how much an inept teammate can drag your own rating down. Other than this problem, the game is a lot of fun. The customization aspect is very unique and fairly well equipped, the game looks amazing visually even though it still has the cartoon-ish theme, and unless WiFi is being spotty the performance of the game is absolutely perfect. Though, as aforementioned, a team member that does not aid in your team can cause you to drop from the verge of platinum league all the way down to nearing bronze league just because the game will not give you a competent teammate.
Edit: With further play of the game I have found the matchmaking system can be even more extremely hostile to my rating by placing myself (currently gold IV) on the same team as a bronze/silver player against a team that is comprised of two diamond league players. I understand a challenge is good, but that is simply ridiculous.
Wow! (also ideas)
I started playing the game the first few days it came out. And man what a refreshment it is, I started to play this more than actual RL itself. But I have a couple of ideas that I think would be great for the game. 1) Training Packs, it would be cool if you added a section in “play” area an you could do custom-made or game made training packs. As a warmup. 2) Actual Tournaments, it would be cool to do tournaments, win titles or items if you win one. Based off your ranking. 3) Mutators, this would be a big step but adding small mutators to private matches like rumble, but you would need a lot of a bigger map for some mutators. 4) Events (like gridiron) adding an event every 2 weeks maybe for a special mode like in real RL 5) Training Add-on, add a button to place the ball on top of you while you may be in mid-air, this would be a big help to practice gold and other shots. 6) This would just be more of a event, where you could demolish and crash into cars on a big map, like the 2v2 map or larger and be able to crash into people, but as a event. 7) Crates, it would be cool to be able to purchase with game coins an import or rare box (with game coins) 8) AR system, this isn’t really a good idea but maybe adding it where you can play the game in AR, most people would need a stand though. 9) a quick menu, it would be cool nice to get to the menu quickly after a match without the timer. This is all my ideas. I might have more in the future, Great game!
Feels familiar, yet it’s refreshing and unique.
I’ve always loved Rocket League ever since my younger brother first showed it to me. But as the years passed after playing it so much, the community has sadly grown more toxic, the items and cosmetics system became too much of a cash cow and didn’t make the game fun anymore. Regardless I still play a match or two or twenty once in a while either with friends or just against bots. When I first heard the official news about a mobile version of Rocket League will be releasing I thought, “Oh great, just another mobile game as an excuse to have micro transactions and take more money from people.” At the same time the idea of being able to play Rocket League whenever I wanted excited me. I almost never play mobile games anymore, but after downloading this I became hooked almost immediately. The controls definitely take some getting used to so tutorials and free play training are recommended, as well as some matches against bots while raising the difficulty levels once you start getting the hang of it. I’ve only had this game for a few days and I’m already in silver rankings on 2v2’s and a tier level that I never thought I would reach in such short a time. I’m so glad that I’m this excited about Rocket League again and I can’t wait to play more!
