I’ve been using this app for almost two years now and while I find that it suits my personal needs to some degree, some functions have a steep learning curve that will cost money without you realizing it. The way the app works is that you pay for certain tools such as 3D photos and floor plans. There are preview modes but the resolution is so low and colors inaccurate that you can’t really tell if a drawing is correct. If you render the photo, however, it will cost you $1.98. If you find out that something’s not right, well, you’ve just wasted the money. My other criticism is the lack of ability to customize accessories and furniture. The library in this regard is somewhat limited. I’m giving it 3 stars because I’m a sucker for paying almost $200 for just one personal DIY kitchen remodel. With each version of my design costing money (something I learned the hard way by not reading the fine print), it’s been an expensive process.

I’ve been using this app for 2 or 3 years and like it. However, it does have its limitations. I wish it worked more like a cad or revit program but not as complicated. Wish list would be things like: more modern fixtures/decorations; more vibrant or true colors and little more realistic finishes (especially the wood grains); the ability to move whole rooms; the addition of sidewalks and true porches and a better interface to make sunken living rooms and porches with steps that meet the ground levels of houses. Also, some kind of way to design more than 3 projects instead of doing multiple levels to show alternate designs; way to export the drawings in more universal formats; and better exterior design snd finish options. All in all, though, I do like the program and have been able to design professional looking floor plans and interior design renderings. But these other options would be totally cool to have.

It’s worth spending time to figure it out!

I’m so sorry to see so many bad reviews. I discovered room sketcher years ago online and was so thrilled when I found out there was an app. I have had my house saved for a very long time, and refer to it whenever we start talking about rearranging furniture or renovating. It did take awhile to get the house measurements laid out correctly, and there was some trial and error. However this program is fabulous. With the help of satellite photos and measuring tapes, I’m able to easily visualize if we can fit in an RV gate, or a pond, or remodel the bathrooms, put in French doors, or buy a new sofa, or anything else that pops up over time. I recommend this to anyone I know moving into a new home, or making mock-ups to see how their furniture fits in a room.

I’m no professional, and I will admit, using it on a tablet took some getting used to as opposed to using a mouse. That’s more of a tablet problem than an app problem.

I like it a lot but with a few tweaks and adds it could be a lot better for visualization. It would be nice to import textures by using a picture of a particular wood grain, tile, or brick to give a more accurate representation of the materials inside the program, they could be scaled much like scaling a drawing of a floor plan. It would also be nice to choose particular paint colors by entering the Hex color codes. Could also use a pool option just to show where it would be placed in relation to the home especially if designing a courtyard. Would also like to be able to add a car in the garage and some garage tools and basic items that are common.

Regarding your request for choosing specific colors, we're happy to let you know that you can already select your own unique colors based on HEX or RGB in the app. Simply choose the color wheel when selecting materials for your project.

I’ve used this app for about 2 years. I paid $20 to upgrade my project for a year and love the 3D view option. It has really helped me visualize my floor plans and space plan with furniture/decorative items. I did have an issue where the program kept freezing/crashing and I got locked out of my project. I reached out to customer service and the issue was that I had too many floorplans (90+) in a single project. Customer service deleted several floorplans for me and I have been able to use the project again with no issues.

This app is by far the best I’ve tried for diy home renovation/design. The biggest selling point is the ability to select a plethora of materials for just about anything. I paid the $100 subscription, and considering the dev time that must have gone into this, I think it’s well worth it. I was struggling to find a consumer grade app without a steep learning curve and with a useful selection of cabinets, floors, countertops, etc. I was even considering trying to pay for and learn Chief Architect (very, very expensive professional software) before I found this one. I’m so beyond pleased with this app.

Overall the app has been great to create an initial layout for a new house we are going to build. It has helped my wife and I figure out key features we want and where we want them.

As someone else stated it needs a copy/paste feature that would let you select items you have customized and copy them for use elsewhere in the design.

Also it needs more exterior features like fish pond, waterfall, (ideally an infinity pool option for pools and more plant and tree options.

I recently added an in-law apartment to my house and found this app was an indispensable tool. I found one other app but decided not to use it as it wasn’t as flexible or robust as Roomsketcher.

With Roomsketcher, I could map the space and build some apartment ideas that gave me a starting point when discussing with our architect. But it didn’t stop there. I was later able to upload the architectural blueprints, also try out different doors, windows, room colors, and fixtures.

My architect told me it was easier to use and more robust than anything he used. My sister-in-law is now using Roomsketcher to aid with her house remodel.

I did not mind paying for the top subscription as it was well worth it. Lastly, the online video tutorials where some of the best I have come across and explained everything.

I have to say, having never used any sort of drawing/ cad type app in my life, I find this app very intuitive and easy to use right out of the gate! For me, I’m utilizing it for my future bathroom renovation, and it has been so nice to be able to draw everything out, visualize my entire space, and have the ability to eventually present this to my contractor as a floor plan! Overall I’m very satisfied with this app and will use it for future projects!

I tried the pro version in hopes that a feature I needed would be in the pro version. It was not there and confirmed by support within 24 hours of purchase. Roomsketcher support said I could get my $ back if within 30 days, so I asked for a refund from apple right away. However, apple’s position is that my ‘reason’ was not valid for refund. Apparently, I “willingly purchased it and all sales are final”(this came from apple support). I should have lied and said I purchased it by accident and then I might have received the money back, but I do not lie.

I honestly believe apple is tarnishing the brand of this small software company with this position.

What was the feature I needed? I wanted to design 1 room and the replicate it several times. There is no way to select all of the components of a room and ‘copy/paste’ or replicate. This was a showstopper for me. This seems like a basic feature than any product should have, ESPECIALLY a PRO version.

Too bad, there are some nice features in this product.
