We set out to build Rootd after suffering from panic attacks and anxiety for several years. The only help we could find was either too expensive, ineffective, or poorly designed. Our mission is to help others find accessible relief from their panic and anxiety, and to end the stigma against those affected.

Finally, an app for conquering panic attacks and anxiety that blends a guided process for both immediate and long term relief, with clean and engaging design.

Love it!

Rootd truly is “anxiety and panic attack relief in your pocket.” The first understanding lesson (What is Anxiety?) does an amazing job at explaining how some anxiety is programmed into us and crucial for survival such as the fight or flight response. The lesson explains that problems with anxiety occur when we feel anxiety in situations where there is no real harm or threat and this anxiety effects in daily life. In the lesson discussing potential causes of anxiety disorders, chemical imbalances, environment/upbringing, and chronic stress are all mentioned as potential causes of someone’s anxiety. In a later lesson, general anxiety disorder is described as constant worry and stress without concrete reasoning for it. All of this information given to help understand anxiety & panic attacks is extremely accurate in relation to the medically accepted definitions. The CBT skills breathing exercises, body scans, and relaxation training offered in this app are all clinically proven ways to treat anxiety and panic attacks. While this app does have a premium feature, I personally don’t find it necessary. Compared to many other mental health related apps on the market where you practically need to purchase the premium membership to get any benefit, this app surely comes in at the top.

Helpful relief

I downloaded this app three days ago in the midst of a panic attack. I used the rootr button and went through the prompts a few times until I felt a bit calmer. There is not much that can help me when I’m in the middle of a panic attack as badly as that one, so the fact that it brought me even a little but ofpeace helped. It was especially helpful to be reminded that I have survived every other panic attack, something that is easy to overlook in the midst of one! I also love the journal feature, it makes it easy to keep track of my panic attacks and also look at the good aspects of my day as well. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, I don’t have the means of upgrading to the premium version but I would definitely look into that if my situation was different. The developers definitely deserve it. The only suggestion I have is to add a few more helpful reminders while using the rootr button. I went through it three times before I felt calm and the sayings started to lose the effect after the first time. Other than that, great app!
