About Time!

I’ve been waiting for RT to create its own app after Flixster stopped functioning years ago. Now I can finally rate and review movies and stay up to date on all the latest releases and movie news. The app is working well so far, and I love the tomogies! My only issue is that I can’t see the number of movies I’ve rated on my profile, and my watchlist is missing. Would love to see that fixed in the next update.

Bad App

Message to Rotten Tomatoes Support (Fandango):
Hi, I’m reaching out about the Rotten Tomatoes app on my iPad Pro. The fact that it’s locked in portrait mode is incredibly frustrating—especially on a premium device like the iPad Pro that’s designed for multitasking and landscape viewing.
I’ve spent the last half hour trying everything: rebooting, reinstalling, checking rotation lock, and even adjusting browser settings just to be sure. Still, the app stubbornly refuses to rotate. It’s disappointing that such a major platform doesn’t offer basic landscape support—something that’s essential for user experience on tablets.
Can you confirm whether landscape orientation is supported at all? If not, I’d really appreciate knowing whether this is on your roadmap, because the current limitation makes the app almost unusable in certain workflows.
Thank you.

Login Required

The first thing you’re hit with (apart from an ad interstitial) is a hard login wall with no option to bypass it. There is no need for RT to require users to authenticate in order for it to function properly, otherwise their website would do the same. And yet, there’s no way to use the app as an anonymous guest. I don’t mind logging in when it makes sense, like writing a review/comment. But to make it mandatory even for passive, read-only experiences, there’s no good excuse for it. Fandango has clearly made it mandatory only to 1) artificially boost their user base 2) track user information 3) use and/or sell that information to 3rd parties. I deleted the app immediately, which is a shame because like others, I too was excited to see it finally being released.
