Description

Rousseau is a melody notation program accessible to anyone (most useful for musicians) ! The seven-note keypad produces ordinary and numbered musical notation (nmn) that appears on screen to the sound of an Italian harpsichord. Buttons allow for playback, key and octave change, accidentals and formatting. A song from your iReal b collection (if installed) may be chosen as a template and then saved as an .irb file for easy import back into iReal b.

This form of numbered melody notation (nmn) was invented by Geneva-born philosopher and composer Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) who first presented the project to the French Academy of Sciences in 1742. It is very similar to currently used Chinese simplified notation.

Needs an update.

In addition to being short on saving abilities, it has fallen behind the curve. My system says it is incompatible with my version of OS X (High Sierra), but this has not been the case for other applications which open but are behind the update. I'd like to try it and troubleshoot the other people's problems, but... obviously, ^ I can't.

Might have potential…

As it stands, this app might have some potential. BUT, there is not enough documentation, it doesn't work with a dvorak keyboard, and the ABC export doesn't export the untire tune. I also can't figure out if its possible to enter tied notes. These are the problems I found in the first five minuets of testing. I gave up, but I will keep an eye on this app to see if some of these deficiencies are fixed in subsequent revisions.

Can'r save the tunes!

Can't save or esport the tunes I wite. Running OSx10.6.8 on a Macbook Pro. Love the way the data entry works, so straightforward... but I really DO want to be able to save my work!
