Favorite training app
I have been using runcoach now for 8 weeks. The free version. I’d previously used Nike app but found that frustrating, and at the time (this may have changed) it didn’t sync right with my Apple Watch, and I’d call Nike support... anyway I dumped the Nike app out of sheer frustration and just went back to logging workouts using the Apple Watch workout app which works, records everything I need...and this feeds into runcoach through HealthKit. And runcoach gives me the daily workouts based on my road race schedule, goal race, and fitness level. So I can improve fitness and speed while avoiding injury. Every now and then the app gets a little buggy, but the developers are super responsive so this hasn’t been an issue. I love it. It has really helped me, and motivates me to keep on target with training.
Much Better Than Strava
Great to find an app for runners that is straightforward with stats that easily understands. Had one problem today with it dropping my route map after saving my run today along with mile splits. The photo I took did save. Title went. Description went. Said there was no map because of no GPS when it did have all of this information this morning when I saved it all. Luckily my backup RunGap app had most of it and I captured the screen and added to the runs photo. Love the audio notification of splits and the motivational comments with it, but when I ask for mike splits its annoying to get them every minute. Been playing with settings and hope things will work itself out on my iPhone 10. All in all still better than Strava.
This is a great app for both new and experienced runners! I’ve been running for several years and had done 4 marathons before downloading this app. During my previous marathon training I just did training plans to get the miles in. Speed work, tempo runs, and threshold runs were always intimidating to me. After downloading the Runcoach app these runs became a normal part of my run schedule. The app does a great job explaining what each run is and even gives demo videos for the warm up drills. I just completed my 5th marathon using the Runcoach training plan, and I qualified for Boston!
