Great for running abroad and updates activity app
I created a custom route before going overseas, then uploaded to the apple watch. I had no cell data service on my phone or watch while abroad so couldn't navigate with a map but it worked great, telling me when I went off the route and also tracked my extra lap. The data automatically added to the Activity app, so didn't need to run the workout app in parallel. my only gripe was the splits show in the rungo app but are not transferred to the activity app, but its still the best running app i've tried
Close, just needs some tweaking
I travel a lot for work, 14 days out of the month I’m in a different city and different hotel. I love the fact that I can look up or create a route the night before and then go run it the next day. The turn-by-turn directions are great and exactly why I use RunGo.
The one thing I’d like to see tweaked is Off Route. For example, I was running on Frank Sinatra Dr in Rancho Mirage, the road is two lanes in both directions with a center island with a sidewalk on only one side. RunGo kept telling me I was Off Route because (I assume) I was on the wrong side of the road compared to what I had created.
The other Off Route issue is a lack recalculating of the route, or at least an option to. For example, same run as above, I had unwittingly created a route that went through a private gated community. No big deal, I’ll just go around and come back the same way I came, pick it up on the other side. Voice prompts were reminding me every 30 seconds that I was off route. Annoying to the point I had to quit the app. Hopefully they can get this fixed, every GPS in the world automatically recalculates when you’re off route.
Misplaced direction points
I actually really do love this app, and would give it a 5 star rating, however the glitchy part is in the creating of the routes. In the creating process the app puts in turns where they shouldn’t be and where you haven’t specified. So I have to go back over the route carefully to try to remove these extra direction points, otherwise in the playback it may tell me to make a u-turn in the middle of the road or a left only to go a few feet before it says right. It’s not so bad if you have an idea where you are going but when I’m in a place that’s not familiar it becomes frustrating. Really …who wants to be the bad navigator of the group? I have this trouble the most using my iPad, the computer works much better.
Not that this a problem but more of a FYI … if you do go off course it takes about a quarter of a mile to let you know. While biking it’s not so bad but running that can be a lot.
Developer Response ,
Hi, thanks for the feedback. It can be difficult the tap that precisely with your finger! So we suggest zooming in, doing longer stretches between taps, and checking for these "spurs" and using the undo feature as you need. You're right, it is easier for many people to create routes on the web, and you can access your routes on the app. But, please do try these tips, and if you have any issues, please let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org, and we'll make sure everything works well for you.
