A little clunky and slow

My biggest problem with this app is how slow it is when trying to go through my notifications. I click on an item in the list, then get the little loading icon. When it finally loads, the page scrolls up and down a few time before it finally settles on something that “might” be the subject of the notification. A little less motion and a little more speed would be nice. Also, why in the world are we required to enter and City and State when we want to report our Boondocking location? The whole idea of Boondocking is to get out of town. Why not allow us to enter GPS coordinates, a Forest Road number, or a BLM site?

Keeps getting better all the time

As an RVer, I really appreciate RVillage for being the only social networking tool for finding & meeting up with other RVers, it really excels at this. The app is catching up with their website with features and functions. I’m sure they don’t have the same budget as Facebook, so I don’t expect them to be as shiny or perfect. I do notice they keep making improvements and they listen and respond to user feedback VERY quickly. You don’t get lost down a rabbit hole of “help” pages like on Facebook. I really appreciate the personal response from support. More importantly, I appreciate that this platform even exists for RVers. So much better than the dry RV forums. The connections with others are immediate and many. And fun!

Slow and clunky

I never use this app now that I’m a full time traveler, which explains why the majority of the users when I did use the app are part time or future RVers. This app is painfully slow, and it’s consuming a LOT of data in the process. The website is no better.

Because there are so many ads in the feed, I have to assume that’s a big part of the problem, but that’s no excuse for it.

I also hate the lack of a freeform field for giving my location. I don’t want to provide my exact park and location, I should be able to list a city or region. They say the workaround is to say you’re boondocking and then give a city, but that’s lazy coding and I shouldn’t have to lie and say I’m boondocking when I just don’t want to name the park I’m in, or give the app access to my gps coordinates.

I don’t think this dev team has ever worked on a mobile app or optimized anything for mobile use before. I also don’t think they’re listening to their solo minority travelers because of the location feature.

I’ll probably be deleting this app soon since I haven’t opened it for more than 60 seconds in at least two months. It’s just that awful.

If you’re on a high speed WiFi connection you’ll probably like it well enough.

Jen, we just made a significant update that addressed so many of the speed issues we were having. Give it a spin and see if that helps. Also, we do have a patreon model (gold) that removes any ads from the platform.
