Description

Rx-Writer is e-Prescribing for the iPad… elegant & intuitive.

Dr. SarahL, “Best iPad Application for Physicians”… “This is the only reason that I love my iPad. It saves me at least 30-60 minutes every day I see patients.” “I am not much of a computer person. I avoid them whenever I can. My son gave me an iPad and suggested I look at Rx-Writer.”

Featured as “New & Noteworthy Medical Application” by Apple.

Rx-Writer securely faxes patients’ prescriptions directly from your iPad to pharmacies. Rx-Writer reduces your time spent writing, tracking, researching, and renewing prescriptions.
Renewing 10-12 prescriptions can take 10-30 minutes when written by hand, pausing to gather relevant prescribing information. With Rx-Writer this task can be accomplished in less than 5 seconds.

Rx-Writer is available as a FREE version allowing up to 250 patients, includes 30 complimentary fax pages, and free faxing for 60 days.

When is the last time you heard a colleague tell you how much he enjoys e-Prescribing?... or how much time he saves e-Prescribing? Rx-Writer gives you the option of an elegant electronic prescribing system that will NOT cost a fortune in disrupted workflow.

Published studies indicate it takes an average of six months for a medical practice to implement electronic medical records and electronic prescribing. Current e-prescribing solutions are typically avoided because they are expensive, inconvenient, distant from the point of care, and disrupt clinical workflow.

User feedback is valued. New features are added regularly. Rx-Writer will be “Meaningful Use" compliant.
Internet access required for faxing.

Features:
• Renew all patient’s medications with a single touch
• Fax prescriptions from iPad to pharmacies
• View medication lists chronologically, alphabetically, and by indication
• Know at a glance EVERY medication your patients are taking
• Have the entire FDA drug database at your fingertips
• Write new prescriptions in seconds

Pretty Good App!

I have updated my rating to 4 stars, because the developer has been very responsive with phone support and set me up with their latest beta-testing version. That solved the constant crashing problems. They have said the latest beta version will soon go live as the next Apple Store version. Overall, this is now a pretty good solution for a solo practitioner like me. I wanted a simple yet effective e-prescribing solution without the hassle and complication of EHR-integrated alternatives that are complex and difficult (read time consuming). RX-Writer now seems to fit the bill. I withheld 1 star because I'd like to see easier, more frequent updates to the pharmacy database, a way to record the pharmacy each RX was faxed to (preferably on the print out of each RX), and more frequent updates to the drug database.

Developers seem to have given up

The app seems to have stopped evolving in recent years, as glitches mount and become insurmountable.

Developer Response ,

Dear Dr. Cross, We apologize for any inconvenience. We have no reports, other than yours, that "glitches are mounting". We have no record of an email or support call from you that we can find in our system. We publish our email address and phone number prominently on our website and support email on the App Store. We are working hard on a new release of the App and on a new website. Please feel free to contact me directly at 813-649-9300. We will work diligently to regain your trust and business. We tried to reach out to you, but can find no Kay Cross M.D. on any of the medical review sites such as Healthgrades or Vitals or via google seach. Please, reach out as soon as possible. Regards, John Montague, Founder & CEO.

Outstanding product and customer service

I have been using Rx writer for over a year. My subspeciality practice is not high volume and I chose to use the free version past the trial period since I can easily keep to below the 200 patients required to maintain the free version. The Rx database is comprehensive and intuitive. More over, what is not available can be free-texted easily. The prescription can be viewed before sending to the pharmacy and most importantly, can be saved as a PDF in my patient folder on a secure shared drive. This enables my staff to retrieve prescriptions and resend to pharmacy in my absence. The support provided by this small company has been exemplary. I get email responses within a short time. Recently, the company's chief officers both took the time to trouble shoot a database transfer to my new iphone. This involved them teleconferencing and networking into my desktop to retrieve my old data and installing it into itunes. I cannot thank them enough for recovering my patient database that I had given up as lost for ever. I have never had this kinda support from other app developers.
I would strongly recommend this product over others that are available in the app market.
