Embarrassingly Useless

The situation around this app and COVID testing at UMaine can only be described as a long history of inexcusable errors. From missing the opportunity for early testing and then outright losing tests and sample information, to poor coordination and an app that can barely even be launched, the UMaine COVID response as of February 2021 is woefully lacking by nearly every metric.

This app struggles to even launch, and once it does it provides an unintuitive means of entering personal information. There is no clear status indicator regarding test status, which might be accredited to either poor design and word choice or even poorer management of submitted samples. Any way that you look at this app and the testing services around it, it’s laughably inadequate and embarrassingly useless.

Homicidal

There are countless bugs that prevent the scheduling of tests or entering personal information. Every attempt I have made brings me to a black screen and I am forced to close the app and reopen it; this process repeats itself ad nauseam. This app succeeds at one thing: guaranteeing people are unable to be tested for COVID.
If these bugs aren’t fixed immediately it could lead to an unknown amount of deaths or hospital visits due to COVID cases going undetected.
This app endangers its users and the communities that rely upon it. It should be removed from the App Store at once and all organizations using it to streamline the appointment-making process should pursue more reliable means (UMaine especially).

Scroll down to create account

To create an account you have to scroll down on the first page unless (I assume) you have a large phone screen.

This app needs some indicator that it scrolls or to use the space more efficiently. A little scroll bar on the side, or better yet, move the box above the continue button so that it’ll scroll down to it after information is entered. Heck, reduce the space that the back arrow heading has on the top of the screen.

So far haven’t had issues scheduling a test because I scheduled it through UNL’s website so that is also an option if there are too many issues.
