Description

If you're worried about the types of websites your children are visiting you should use SafetyBrowser to limit their access to the internet.

You choose what websites your child can visit. SafetyBrowser creates a colorful homepage for your child with screenshots of each of their websites. It then limits their use of the internet to only websites you have allowed. Any links to outside websites are blocked.

The app can be placed into Kiosk mode taking up the whole screen and preventing access to the rest of the computer. Your child can browse their sites freely, returning to the homepage to switch sites at any time.

Additional features include:

-Multiple profiles: create profiles for each child, different age ranges or content ratings
-Start in Kiosk mode when your computer stars up
-Timed sessions
-Session logs
-Fun, original background artwork

I developed SafetyBrowser for my three year old daughter. She loves having her own homepage, and I love giving her the ability to explore the internet safely. Try it today!

Good idea, poor execution

While I really like the idea behind this program, I also don't like being a beta tester for a paid app.

1). This browser is horribly slow. I don't mean a little slower, but I mean I get i.e. 8 second load times from Sesame street rather than 3 seconds with another browser. This is excrutiatingly painful when a kid, hungry for fun, has to repeatedly wait long load times as they traverse their favorite website.
2). The "kid mode" does not work half the time. Kid mode seems to just be an attempt at full screen with reduced number & larger buttons. Again, nice idea but bad execution. Instead of the full screen, literally about half the time the content is just a blank screen or garbled screen.

Those are pretty much show stoppers for me & why I have to give it 2 starts.

It would also be nice if the user preferences did more meaningful adjustments. That is, it would be nice if you could set preferences such as mouse speed, right click enable/disable, or other keyboard/mouse/system preferences that would make it useable for more kids. I.e. some kids just can't handle the same mouse speeds or right clicks like their parents.

doesn't work

I wish this thing would work but it just doesn't really work at all.
