“When I got my first gift from a Samaritan, I was in the library crying at the thought that someone out there cares about me.”

Samaritan is a dignified and secure channel to support the journey toward stable housing. There are plenty of reasons why the single mom with a car full of belongings, the veteran on the street corner, or the teen outside the supermarket experiencing homelessness are often overlooked:

“I don’t have cash”
“I don’t know if they will spend it on true needs”
“I don’t know if it will make a real dent”

Now, you know. Samaritan invites you to join their journey and feel confident that your social capital - both your talents and money - are going toward core needs. Send a $25 gift for food and medical bills, invite them to coffee, or message words of encouragement for greater accountability.

Samaritan is currently serving members in Seattle, Oklahoma City, and Orange County and aiming to serve 100+ communities by 2025. Want your community supported, too? Contact us and let us know where you are!

Great idea but problems with app

Still love the concept, but have never gotten notifications to work on my iPhone 7. Have had the person standing next to me receive one, but not me. Didn’t work for me either when the developers were doing a live demo I attended.

These aren't complaints--just want the developers to know my issues. I really want this to work!

I give to the profile folks but keep hoping an update will make it work for me on the street.

Would love to use :)

Thank you for making this app. I’m sure it’s already doing great things there in Seattle. I think it has the potential to change lives for people in the Midwest, too. For example, here, in Oklahoma City, where state-run programs for people in need lack proper funding and the sign-up process is difficult and full of redundant paperwork. That’s not assistance-that’s needless bureaucracy.
I think open-sourced(crowd-sourced?) assistance is an awesome idea. I wish it were available for everyone right now. There should always be an honest, shame-free way for a person in need to ask for help and be connected to another human being that’s there to help. Thanks for doing what you’re doing, keep up the good work, and please keep OKC in mind for your next location! We need people like you here! I’m glad to help with anything you might need to get this app to OKC. There are so many wonderful people in need here. Please, come walk with us. :)

This app is so simple, easy to use and much needed. It’s a wonderful tool to help bridge the gap between people with different living situations, break down barriers, provide perspective and help move us to understanding and healing. I also feel good knowing that my donation can only be spent at a list of very reputable organizations and businesses; I feel that my donation is truly going to help the recipient in a positive way.
