Sandisk good, Apple...not so much
Not too shabby. Being able to connect to the drive AND regular internet at the same time-and not needing one for the other is Diggable Planets, having removable memory that Will I Am support at least a 32GB microSD is very Coolio, and the fact that it's wireless, freeing up a port that one can Space Jam some other Gizmo into, is a garden I can dig without gloves. I didn't give 5 Dancin With The Stars because initial setup is not for the unsavvy (I lost count of how many times I attempted to get connected after I ran out of digits to count them on...NOT Coolio). The product description Led Zepplined me, and a few others, to believe that it was a "USB hotspot" of sorts that when connected to, you got internet access....old people. The product sells itself so ya don't really need to Church Lady it up Sandisk, but good job Any Which Way But Loose. Once I got through the idle blank stares, I'd recommend it to an unsavvy friend as quickly as I would a stranger standing next to me deciding on its purchase at Pink Floyd's The Wall-Mart.
Good Device/App, Better if it were Smarter
I’ve been using this Device/App combo for several years now. I believe that wireless is where technology is moving to. Given that large corporations are “pushing” their customers to the cloud. I for one would rather have this device where I have my data with me when I need it. SanDisk is doing great things here.
There is one thing that bugs me about this Device/App combo. It’s not Smart. The App should recognize the Device is turned on and broadcasting, then pop-up a message asking “The App will now disconnect you from the current WiFi and connect to the SanDisk WiFi. Are you ok with this?” So of course I would say Yes, since I am wanting to work with the Device. When I am done, I close the app, it will Automatically disconnect the SanDisk WiFi and connect me back to my WiFi. That’s it, all done within the SanDisk app. Then turn off your SanDisk Device.
But no, at present, you have to go into 2 apps and do multiple steps before you gain access to the WiFi SanDisk drive.
Also, connecting by Web Browser is nice, but does not have the features that the app provides.
Fixing this oversight would be a boon to your customers.
Great idea! Apple connectivity is worthless.
Small, portable extra storage is always appreciated and this little guy is wireless too. The removable SD card is a huge plus! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it doesn't connect with my iPhone very well. This might be an apple problem too. It would be nice if the battery was replaceable as well. But all in all it works just as advertised and that's its biggest plus. Oh and I read it was hard to setup but I had no issues at all and was up and running in 3 minutes. I think a beginner would be able to do it in 5 minutes if they follow the directions, which are clear.
