Are you tired of personal finance apps like Quicken that are overloaded with features you don't need? GreenBooks isn't like that. It is powerful enough to do all the money management tasks you need, but with none of the complexity you don't.
"[GreenBooks] answers the call for a personal finance app that isn’t intimidating and difficult to use." – AppStorm
• All Accounts in One App
GreenBooks makes it easy to keep track of all of your accounts in one place. It makes tasks you do everyday such as entering transactions super easy and fast. It also offers powerful tools like batch transaction editing that lets you keep your account data clean and organized.
• Breakdown Chart
The Breakdown chart shows you where your money is going, by breaking down your expenses and incomes by categories. Now you can answer the question, "where did all my money go?"
• Trends Chart
The Trends chart shows you the up and down trends of your money. For example, see the trend of your overall account balance to see if you are getting richer or poorer, compare your expense and income trends to find correlation, or compare trends between different categories of spending.
• Scheduled Transactions
Scheduled transactions lets you keep track of all of your recurring bills. Set reminders so you never forget to pay them, and when your bills are due, log the payment with a click of the mouse.
• Reconcile Accounts
It's easy to reconcile accounts in GreenBooks. You can either do it manually, semi-automatically by importing an OFX file, or completely automatically by using Direct Connect.
• Direct Connect
GreenBooks can connect to your banks directly so transactions are downloaded and reconciled automatically. Direct Connect is available in U.S. and Canada and requires a separate subscription of $2.99/month. You don't need Direct Connect to use GreenBooks effectively.
The best way to control your spending is with a budget. With GreenBooks, you can create a monthly or annual budget. Just set an estimate on each expense and income category and track your progress. You can even have multiple budgets running in parallel.
• GreenBooks for iPhone
GreenBooks for iPhone is the perfect companion to the Mac app. You can enter transactions on the go, view breakdown charts, use scheduled transactions and more. Just search "GreenBooks" in the App Store.
• iCloud Sync
Secure iCloud sync ensures your data is always up-to-date on both your Mac and iPhone.
We love the beauty and simplicity of the Mac, so we designed a personal finance app that is equally as beautiful and a joy to use as your Mac.
Your privacy is always protected. We don't store any of your personal information on a server.

Ratings and Reviews
Works well, great design, but text lacks adjustment
Good experience with Savings 3 usability, never any errors with information or transactions. The app contains just the right amount of features. I like the trends display a lot. I personally have not used the bank connection. Execellent visual layout -- not your eye-bending spreadsheet grid. The gray text notes line looks great.
Unfortunately, the text cannot be changed in any way. I personally have a hard time seeing the brighter green text and the red is so-so. Font size cannot be changed. Also, the transaction selection is unnecessarily harsh: black-to-white text color reversal with cobalt blue in whole box. Much subtler methods exist. For example, the app highlights each account with a simple gray band -- perfect.
For me, the text color is a deal-breaker and I had to move to another app that gives you great choice on text, but is much less elegant overall. I'd be right back with Savings if text color, size and highlighting could be adjusted.
Four stars for great design, just missing user adjustment on visuals.
Developer Response ,
Hi there, these are good feedback regarding color and design. We will look into fixing it in a future update. Thanks!
Gets it done
I just wanted a checkbook to do the math. No subscriptions or complications. I love GreenBooks for that. It was the only app that accurately imported my Quicken-format data, which saved a ton of time correcting. The reconciliation feature is weird, but I got used to it. And if you can download transactions from your bank, GreenBooks uploads them and reconciles them all in a very intuitive and accurate way. Again, no subscription or private info sharing required. Just import your bank data, and GreenBooks handled it.
** Follow-up: Developer checked in with me about calling reconciliation feature "weird." To be more specific, one can reconcile any time of the month, mid-cycle, whatever. But there's no dedicated "reconcile" report or button, no "opening/closing balance," just a hidden "cleared balance" feature. Once I learned it, I got used to it, and now I love it. But it's a very novel way (weird) to approach reconciliation.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for your feedback, I'm glad it's working well for you. When you said reconciliation feature is weird, I am curious what you mean by that. Could you email me at email@example.com so I can understand your needs, and perhaps make the app better?
Great for Budgeting and tracking spending
This is a great App and has been extremely helpful to me in my new efforts to start budgeting my money better. You can label and track your spending so you can see where your money goes and see it in a graph. The visual really helps. You can make a budget for any time length and add various bank accounts and specify what form the money was in e.g. check, cash, card, etc. There is also an option to import transactions directly from your online banking accounts so you dont have so spend a lot of time manually entering everything. I started with the free version and upgraded for a small cost, it was well worth it.
