Say hey: Message Memory
Time to say hey
Only for Mac

Mac
New: ask your own messages. "What did I promise Sam?" gets an answer cited to the real texts. Local by default; ChatGPT, if chosen, sends chat and context to OpenAI.
It's been a while.
You're good with people. There are just too many of them. Say hey is a quiet memory for your texts that holds onto the things you don't: the deck you promised Monday, the question you left on read, the friend who's gone quiet since February.
It reads your Messages history right on your Mac and turns it into a short, honest list of people to follow up with, and the reason each one matters today. There's no inbox to clear and no system to keep up. You open it, you see who needs you, you get on with your day.
WHAT IT CATCHES
• Promises you made. "I'll send it Monday" becomes a nudge when Monday comes.
• Questions you left on read. The replies you owe, before they slip.
• Things people owe you: the signed contract, the intro, the answer you're still waiting on.
• Plans with a date. Dinners, offsites, and trips that need a push to actually happen.
• Birthdays and anniversaries, learned from past years instead of a form you fill out.
• People going quiet. The ones you used to talk to every week, drifting without a word.
Every follow-up comes with the one reason it's surfacing now, the recent thread for context, and one click to draft a reply, snooze it, mark it done, or open it in Messages.
ASK YOUR OWN MESSAGES
Ask a question in your own words. "What did I promise Sam?" "When's Maya's birthday?" "What did I miss in the group chat?" Say hey answers from your real messages and attaches the texts it used, so you can check the answer yourself. If it can't find something, it says so. It never invents a message.
The default model is local. Qwen 3 4B runs entirely on your Mac after a one-time download you start yourself. No account, nothing sent. You can pick ChatGPT instead: sign in, and your recent chat turns plus the context Say hey retrieves go to OpenAI to write the answer.
You can point your other AI tools at it too. Open Connect in the sidebar and copy the command for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Claude Desktop, so "who have I lost touch with?" works there too, with the same cited sources. Connect shows what's listening, what has asked, and the last few calls. What a tool retrieves goes to its own model, and one switch turns it all off.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT. CHATGPT BY CHOICE.
Everything Say hey does on its own happens on your Mac: reading your Messages history, spotting follow-ups, search, profiles, and the local Qwen model. No account. Nothing runs in the cloud unless you ask it to. Only two things send message content off your Mac, and both are your explicit choice: picking ChatGPT (your recent chat turns plus retrieved context go to OpenAI), and connecting an outside AI tool through Connect (what that tool retrieves goes to its model). Only what a query retrieves, never a bulk upload. Never without you choosing it.
THE REST OF IT
Search every conversation by name or keyword from the sidebar and land on the exact message, in context. Open anyone's profile to pick up where you left off, with anything still open pinned at the top. Explore shows the people you're closest to on rings by how often you talk, with the groups you share. And Say hey lives in your menu bar, so one click shows who needs you without opening the app.
Made for macOS. Works with the Messages you already have.

A new look, and a new way in for your other tools.
ONE DARK WORLD
Say hey is now one dark, chat-first app. The sidebar is New chat, search, Home, Inbox, People, Explore, and Connect. Home is the question; Inbox is the list; every follow-up shows the message that created it, with Snooze and Done right on the row. The only colour on screen is your own messages.
EXPLORE
