Explore the real world and find the magic within your neighborhood with Augmented Reality and Scavengar. Collect crazy items, solve computer-vision powered tasks and riddles, discover new places – or become a creator and construct your own hunts.
Coming out as the winner of the Product Hunt Global Hackathon 2017 in the Augmented Reality Category the next generation of scavenger hunts is here. If you love AR as much as we do and want to discover a new city or give the lost place around your corner a new, exciting, and techy-twist, you might want to check out if there’s a hunt already awaiting you. If not – create one yourself and let others experience your adventure.
Collect a variety of items, that realistically reflect their surroundings and gather points to win the game. A more sophisticated feature lies in the tasks and riddles you can solve. Powered by computer vision and machine learning, you’ll need to interact more with the “real” world to truly master the enigmas. I.e., finding objects, colors or obstacles within a certain time frame, or answering questions about the memorial which is located in the park nearby.
Thanks to an integrated hunt-map, discovering new routes and expeditions is super intuitive and straightforward. Just chose, locate yourself, go!
In case there is no hunt around, become a creator yourself and make one. It is as simple as counting to one, two, AR, and achieved within a couple of minutes inside the app. Constructing your personal adventures plays a crucial part in the idea and philosophy of Scavengar. Enhancing the world with augmented experiences makes being outside even more fun and adds a layer of invisible interactivity to your surroundings.
It does not matter if you want to conquer the outdoors yourself, hop on a city tour, create an unforgettable birthday party, use it for education, or just have a blast with your friends - Scavengar is here to change how you interact with the world and lets you uncover the magic right in front of your doorstep.

Great App, few more updates will make it a long-term keeper!!!
Very Fun App, great for kids, if there were two additional updates, i think I would use this almost weekly for kids & teens alike!
1.) I’d love if I could just set out a bunch of items to search for without having to go from one to the next to the next. Maybe make this a ‘timed’ event without an end point, just ‘5 minutes to find as much as you can’, that you can still utilize the activities to unlock larger values gems.
2.) the second and more challenging would be to be able to ‘hide’ gems not just at a location, but inside a slide or on top of the playground, or under the deck
Hi evancraig22, thanks for your nice feedback – really appreciate it!
Regarding your first suggestion I can say that I‘ve been planning to integrate another kind of »task« where you have to find and collect as many gems as possible in a specified timeframe. I think this would come rather close to your idea.
For the second: it would be a little harder at the current point, as the app isn’t utilizing AR place detection right now and the virtual objects are placed with the help of geo coordinates.
It’s definitely a nice idea though and I will consider it for a future update.
