Your weight fluctuates daily. In contrast to other apps Scelta compares weekly averages and shows your real weight progress!
If you have ever used a scale regularly you know this problem:
Your weight fluctuates from day to day and it’s difficult to say whether you gained weight, lost weight or just had a heavy day. Salty food, hydration status, sleep, stress, and hormonal fluctuations are just some of the many factors that can influence your weight heavily in the short term.
To know what’s really going on you need to compare averages to each other. - eg. the average of the last 14 days to the average of the 14 days before. The difference, also known as delta, between these time spans is a very informative indicator of what really happens to your body weight.
Scelta calculates this “scale delta“ for you and makes weight tracking approachable, meaningful, a lot of fun and incredibly motivating.
Data visualisation of the next generation:
• Your real progress: Scelta compares your average weight for the selected time span to the previous time span, eg. 7 days vs 7 days prior
• Linear regression instead of peaks and valleys: A line of best fit shows your actual weight trend graphically
• Reach your own goal: select eg. “- 1 lb per week” (or “- 0,5kg per week” depending on your local unit) and see at a glance how good you’re doing by taking a look at your adherence percentage
• Hear your weight: Swipe on the graph to see the exact value of a data point and its linear regression, hear and feel (on devices with Taptic Engine) the value of your weight entries (you’ve never seen, heard or felt your weight this way!)
• Scelta shows your total progress and how far you have come since you started your goal
• After setting a new goal (eg. a lean gaining phase after losing fat) you can still go back to older goals to see your previous progress
• See a graph of your goal adherence for every day since you first set your goal. Swiping on it reveals your weekly rate of weight change and how well you adhered to your goal in the 7, 14 oder 30 day average comparison on that day. There has never been anything like it before.
And because everything is more fun as a game:
• The RPG where you are the main character: Collect Scelta Points by reaching your own goal and level up
• Prolific story: Unlock many different achievements for your adhering to your weight adventure
• Online leader boards: Compete with your friends or users worldwide to see who accomplishes their personal weight goals best
Losing weight on a fat-loss diet, keeping your lean-gaining phase in check or if you’re just trying to maintain your current weight:
Weight Tracking has never been this fun!
What position will you reach with your personal progress in the leader boards?
Download Scelta now and try it today!
Scelta integrates with the Apple Health app:
Scelta uses the Health app that is pre-installed on your iPhone to show already existing weight data and to save new entries. Because of this Scelta will ask you to grant read- and write-access to your weight data.
Your weight is only visible to you and is not sent or visible to anyone but yourself.
Achievements you unlock and points you collect to climb the leader boards are a result of how well you adhere to your goals and not your actual weight entries. The goal you set for yourself is not visible to anyone else as well.
This update fixes an issue regarding the CSV export on iPad.

Enjoyable way to track progress
I stumbled across this app and the graphing/averaging is what caught my eye so decided to try it. Glad I did as I started using it more I discovered that the way to use this app was daily and consistent entries which was always a problem for me to commit to in the past. The SP coins seemed gimmicky at first but soon became pleasurable and rewarding to collect as progress was made. In turn that reinforced the desire for daily updates to the tool. Anybody who’s gone on the weight loss train knows it’s difficult to establish then keep long term habits to make progress. Also one has bouts of ‘lack of visible progress’ which leads to slacking off the focus and eventually dropping the habits and this tool at least in my use has gotten me thru those valleys as the progress graphs reveal there’s still the correct trending directions.... kinda kicks ya back on track. Anyway thanks for making this app as good as it is. And agree with other opinions that it would be nice to see longer trending options beyond 30 days...
Developer Response ,
thank you for your kind words! Happy to hear the SP coins motivate you to keep track of your weight loss progress! By the way, you can actually see all your progress (multiple years if you like) or custom time spans for previous goals in the Overview tab of Scelta. By tapping the text below "Current goal" you can edit your goals and the time spans you want to keep an eye on. :) If enough data is available, Scelta uses averages in this case as well to improve data accuracy. I.e., the start and end value are seven day averages as soon as the time span is long enough. Having a direct comparison beyond the 30 days time span is something I thought about, but awarding coins etc. for such long time spans comes with a few challenges. For example, 90 days would be almost "too forgiving" and wouldn't really reflect your current path anymore. This is why I decided against it so far... If you have any further suggestions or things that come to your mind you can always reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org as well.
Best wishes for your journey,
Health app or game?
I keep a weight log for medical reasons. I tried this app to have a different view of my changes. Since my goal is to not lose weight the goal is set near 0% and is heavily affected by changes. The longer the term, the easier to stay on course.
I soon became obsessed with accumulating coins. Although I didn’t try to control my weight I was setting alarms to make sure I gathered my coins every 18 hours, regardless of my other activity. I soon raced up the standings.
Then I convinced myself that I was actually using the app as a tool and all these other people were just playing a game. I was honorable and they were all cheaters! I realized how someone could set themselves up to gather coins/points in the most expeditious manner possible and that they must have figured it out also.
Finally, I have gotten back to using this as a tool to aid my health. Although I will continue to gather points when I can, I have calmed (not lost!) my obsession with the “game” aspect of the app. After all, I gotta get back in the top 10!

Haha, thank you for sharing this cool story! Laughed so much reading it and really enjoyed hearing your insight!
Very inspiring for me to hear that the gamification aspect of Scelta can have such an impact. I know my father is really obsessed with collecting SP as well!
I thought a lot about how one could prevent users from cheating as much as possible. E.g. "Locking" your goal for the next 7 days after setting it is one measure. - Otherwise users could just change their goal every day to adjust to their current situation to always get 100%.
But of course there's nothing I can really do to prevent users from "cheating" by just putting in arbitrary entries or putting in one entry and always collecting coins. :D
Some of the top Game Center players I know personally and I'm quite sure they don't cheat. ;)
The design decision behind rewarding users with coins every 18 hours was to motivate users to put in their weight every day and check daily how well they're on track with their current weight goal. And depending on how well they're doing, reward them and motivate them to do as good as possible. This drives progress in the right direction. And what's important to me is that this allows users to "be in the now". Far too many apps focus on some arbitrary number in the future and I think focusing on your current progress and being satisfied with where you are at currently and how things are developing is really the only way to ever be happy.
If they've done this for some time they can look back at all their coins, their level and see how good they adhered to their goal in comparison to others. - Healthy competition is always a great way to get people excited.
And seeing "I was able to collect 100 silver coins", "I'm already level 35" etc., those things are just a fun way to reflect on all the work you put in. In the end these achievements (literally) can only bring out their full magic when it's your real journey, your "blood, sweat and tears" that stands behind it. That's what makes these achievements your achievements. :)
Tracking is fun, math is weird
I enjoy the game like quality to the app and enjoy earning my coins as I progress toward my goal. I agree it is nicer to see a portion of my weight loss goal than looking at the monster desired total goal. Anyhoo, that being said, the math is funny. This week I am ahead of my goal but my percentage stays at 63%. I read in another review the idea behind this is to avoid crash dieting and will penalize people who lose too much weight. I understand trying to stick to the goal, but I shouldn’t be penalized for working my tush off and losing more this week. Seems like an odd system that is not particularly motivating. Granted I am only two weeks in but it seems odd to be punished for my apparently picking an arbitrary number that turned out to be lower than I was capable of achieving. I will adapt going forward, but still seems like an odd situation.

I understand where you're coming from. I don't agree that you're "penalized" for working your tush off: You'll still be able to collect coins, even if you're losing much more weight per week than you set as a goal for yourself. However, you'll get less points and a lesser rating than if you adhere to your planned rate of weight loss perfectly.
What makes Scelta really unique compared to most weight tracking apps is the it makes the journey the reward. It's focused on the way to your goal. - Not on your goal. I know that this something that not everyone agrees with, but I think especially in the context of tracking your weight this is something that was really missing. In the approach of Scelta its not about getting your goal the quickest; in fact it's not about the goal at all, only about the journey. If you want to loose weight at a higher rate, there's nothing stopping you from adjusting your weekly goal over time, or having different weekly goals for different time spans. - Scelta is designed for that.
I think what I should learn from this is that I need to explain this concept better to new users and also provide some guidance on what kind of weekly rate of weight loss is realistic and can or should be attained. For someone who's completely new to this it might be very helpful to get more help with this. I'll keep that in mind for future updates! Thanks a lot for taking your time to write this review!
