Very Inimpressive

The device has very limited functionality. For instance, there are applets for specific things, such as cheese, tomatoes, and pain medicine. So, I took out a slice of American cheese and scanned it. It gave me the nutritional content. (Calories, Fat, Water, Protein.) When marketing the device, they make it out to be something that you can identify things with. For instance, if I go outside and point it at a weed, it's not going to tell me what the weed is. As for scanning drugs, it will only scan one type, pain meds. Very limited. What if I find a pill and I don't know what it is. Well, if it's not pain medicine, I am out of luck. This device is very far from ready for mainstream. The database, which is the weak link in the system, has a minute amount of data in it. At this point I have a $300 piece of analytical equipment that can tell me that an ibuprofen tablet I took out of an ibuprofen bottle of ibuprofen. :(

Overpriced overpromised underdelivered crappy product

This is perhaps one of the worst things I’ve come across in my life, not just in terms of product but also in terms of customer service!
It was one of those highly marketed fund raising products that promised people they can scan and get information of anything under the sky, was more than 2 years late to launch and ended up giving you less information than a simple nutrition info you can search for any any search engine like Google without having to pay the hefty money.
When I asked to return the product and get my money back they said they’re not obliged to do any such thing!

So in summary save your money because this company and everything about it is fraud

Still not shipping

This app requires the mythical Scio device to operate. Alas, said device is at least 2 years overdue after raising a HUGE amount of money on Kickstarter. Lots of hype, but Scio is unfortunately looking more and more like a scam every day. Maybe I will eventually receive mine, and then I'll update this review. Until then, this app gets one star because it doesn't do anything.
