Ratings and Reviews
Couldn’t work remotely without it!
I’ve been using this app since before it moved to the app store. I use it constantly to access remote computers at my business on days I work from home. It’s so handy to have all my computers available in the menubar. If someone needs tech help, or I need to see their screen to assist, or I need to use a remote computer, this app makes getting on that computer super simple and quick.
The only flaw I’ve seen with it is that sometimes it forgets the computer list but a restart of the app brings it back up. Since I only reboot weekly, that may be my system causing the problem and not the app. Also that happened in an earlier version… that may be solved now.
If you work remotely or do tech support on a group of computers, this is a must have app.
Menu Bar Access to “Back to My Mac"
This app simply provides Menu Bar access to Back to My Mac, and it does that very well — 5 stars.
I have two offices, and I frequently need access to the other computer. Thus, VNC is a daily necessity. Of all the clients, I like using Back to My Mac the most since it works best with the keyboard commands that I use without thinking (muscle memory). With any other client, I do the command without thinking, then I have to think how to do it without the keyboard command.
The bad thing about Back to My Mac is that it seems to break easily. Thus, I always try to use Back to My Mac first, then LogMeIn if it doesn’t work.
The point is that this app is nothing more or less than a menu bar access to Back to My Mac. All of the limitations of Back to My Mac remain, and they are not the problem of this app.
Simple app that gets the job done
For some reason, Apple likes to both hide their built-in Screen Sharing app and doesn’t like to expose a list of computers that have screen sharing enabled on your network. ScreenSharingMenulet handles both of these problems with elegance.
Highly recommend if you’re sick and tired of searching for the Screen Sharing app or don’t want to remember a bunch of hostnames/IP addresses.
