Draw rounded shapes and capture screen with all-new approach to screenshots.
Screenshot FX completely reinvents the process of taking screenshots. It allows you to draw any shape on your screen and then take a screenshot of that portion of the display. With the special draw tool, you can place points of the shape anywhere on the screen and outline an area that you want to capture. Screenshot FX even allows you to draw curves and take oval screenshots or combine straight lines with the curves and capture any other shape that you want!
Screenshot FX stays silently in the background and is ready whenever you need it. Every time you want to take a screenshot, just use a simple keyboard shortcut and start creating points of the shape that you want to capture. It’s that easy!
Screenshot FX creates a transparent background around the shape that you capture and makes it perfect for incorporation into presentations, websites, e-books, documents and other projects. Images with transparent backgrounds look great and do not overlay other elements in the project.
- Optimization for macOS Mojave dark mode.

Ratings and Reviews
Does Not Work!
Paid for and downloaded the app. Followed the instructions when asked “Where do you want to save screen shots to”. Everything disappeared and app won’t open at all.
The only thing different from the other reviews is that I decided to take the risk that it would work if I followed the instructions carefully and took into consideration the other reviews. I just lost $2.99 and have no idea how to get my money back.
DO NOT think you are smarter than the rest of us and can get it to work! It won’t! Too bad it doesn’t work. It was what I was looking for!
Easy to use. Just click “take a screenshot”. Your screen will darken a bit. Then move your cursor to the image you want to capture, and click around the item, or photo you want to capture. You will be laying down a series of dots, at the 4 corners of a square or rectangular photo, or just aroud the section you want to capture. The last “dot” has to end right where you began. At that point the area you want to capture will brighten up. Hit enter and the image will automaticall go to your desk top, or download folder, which you have selected in “preferences”. If you make a mistake during capture, just hit the escape key and start over again. Remember, you have to do a bit of work. Just clicking “take a screen shot, doesn’t automatically capture a photo. You must lay down the red dots around the image you wish to capture.
I’d recommend to the folks who’ve had a hard time that they get in touch with the developer have him give guidance. This little app really does work perfectly fine. Easily accessible instructions that are crystal clear. I’ve purchased one other app from this company and have found the dev to be very receptive to user communication.
Kind of interesting that the ratings are at the extremes - nothing in between. Pretty telling about the negative reviewers.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
