Best visually, but will go unused because I could not find a way to record my own voice for my lines

See above. That should be implemented or made more clear. I don’t want to listen to a robot when the characters in my scenes are not ones. Take a hint from the off book app. A lot less visually impressive, but it gets what I need done. This app could easily be the lead in the market.

Best app for getting off book

I was recently in a very wordy musical where I was having a lot of trouble getting my lines down. I put a short scene into 5 or so different free script apps I found. Script Buddy was by far the best, and I put in my whole script. I was off book within two days! I especially like that you can put in audio files; I put in my practice tracks. The text to speech is a great feature! I gave each character a different voice, put in my headphones, and ran lines anywhere. My only gripe is putting in a script. If you don't have a PDF, you're typing the whole thing out. It was tedious, but worth it. Plus I think it helped me learn my lines in the process. I'm a theatre student and I've recommended this app to all of my friends and some of my professors! The other free options I've come across just don't even come close to the ease and function of Script Buddy. Thanks for a great app!!

Great way to learn lines. Great tool for playwrights.

This app has become an important part of my company’s process. So much so that we release both standard and ScriptBuddy versions of our shows to our cast. In addition, as a professional playwright, I find ScriptBuddy invaluable as a proofreader. Because it reads exactly what is written, it’s a fantastic way to hear typos and clunky lines that might be missed by proof readers.

The app reads in system voices. You cannot record your lines. The app is also affordable, likely due to just coding for system voices. For some, this might be a drawback. I just need the lines read in different voices. I don’t need to record, so it’s fine for me.

All in all I highly recommend this app for learning lines and as an audible proofing tool.
