#1 credit union deploying a 1 star app
I’ve been banking with this credit union for 20+ years. They have constantly blown me away by their great member services. What bugs the heck out of me is this app. What you want to do you can’t do and have to log on the website to do.
Furthermore, I get the need for security but having to answer questions that are easily discovered on social media is plain ridiculous especially if they are one word answers. I especially like the ones that ask for my father’s middle name. I’m a junior. Duh. If I have Touch ID enabled isn’t that enough? I guess someone could cut off my finger and gain access to my phone. And if they’ve unlocked my phone chances are they can find all the answers they need. So the attempt at an extra layer of security isn’t really that secure and an added inconvenience.
Finally, if I deposit checks thru the app it takes longer for them to post than if i use an ATM or a live person at a branch.

Love the “bank” hate the app
This app feels like they created it one time when apps first came out and they never bothered to update it- not even once. When I opted out of paper statements when I set up the account, I assumed I could get all the pertinent information I needed from the app. Boy I was wrong! It would be really nice to know the dates that loan payments are due, credit card payments are due, the interest rate on credit cards, and transaction history longer than the last 30 days. I’m begging you please please please update your app So that I can use you as my number one financial institution. My intent when I got my SDCCU account was to close all other accounts, but I simply can’t. There is no excuse for such an antiquated app. I shake my head thinking of the missed opportunities this Credit Union has. Every comment says the same thing from years ago and so it doesn’t appear they are taking any action to make it better. This is a credit union and when it benefits financially it benefits all its members. GET WITH THE PROGRAM! Love you SDCCU- but you need to address this!
Well behind the times
The app is sure behind the times. Enter all your companies you wish to pay and add a nickname on the main website. But the nickname doesn’t show on the app. So who am I paying? I have to verify the last 4 of the number.
Also, if you import your bills into the app, there are no options to receive notices that a bill is due. And if you wish to pay more than a minimum payment, you cannot by paying the bill. You must leave that area and make a generic payment to the company. But that payment isn’t reflected in the bills area. It will still show that bill as unpaid. What’s the point?!?
SDCCU is voted the best SD credit union? Not for those who like tech.
