The ONLY WAY to actually get BETTER AT HITTING by playing on your phone.

Seam Reading is the ability to recognize a pitch by how it looks.

Each pitch has a different “face” that the spin creates. Knowing what each pitch looks like could be the difference between strike 3, or a home run.

In Seam Reader all the balls and pitches use real life analytics in RPM as well as MPH. From a little league fastball all the way up to a major league heater, the app has it all.

Discover what every pitch looks like in our one of a kind Learn Mode, that features 6 pitches for baseball and 6 for softball.

Practice a variety of pitches and difficulties in the Batting Cage mode. Here speeds vary from your average little leaguer to your major league or Olympic level ace!

Test your Seam Reading skills in Career Mode. With increasing variety of pitches and speeds, the accuracy is as real to life as it gets on a phone.

Spins of Pitches

2 Seam FB, 4 Seam FB, and Slider have the correct spins, but the curveball spin isn’t right. It’s not suppose to spin like a bullet, the slider is. Curveballs are 2-8, 1-7, 12-6 spin, sometimes 1-8 or 2-7. Also Changeups don’t spin like a FB unless you throw a Split Change or something close to that. It’s either a Split Change, Circle Change, 3-finger Change, or Vulcan Change. Split and Vulcan are the closest ones to a FB spin. I know it’s nitpicking, but it’d be a way better app if these changes were implemented.

Not Realistic enough

I feel like this isn’t realistic enough like you only have a second to guess in Little League and I feel like it should be 1.7 seconds because I am doing this to get good practice and also maybe it could be like if you say 4 seam fastball and it is 2 seam fastball it should just be like a 50% chance of getting a hit maybe and for Majors level you could like have real pitchers like Jacob DeGrom Verlander etc and it will tell you 50% 4 seam 5% curveball or something like that

Good but flawed

Overall the app is good for developing quick thought processing around what the pitch will be. However, it is definitely not the same as doing this against a real pitcher. Also, there is no way to tell the difference in this app between a changeup and a fastball, and you just have to take a wild guess. It is a decent app, but I would recommend practicing with someone else outside if possible.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the review. Seam Reader is a supplementary tool, so you should definitely be practicing these skills in real life too! But, what you can do is get more visual practice, and it's just in your pocket! There is a slight visual difference between the changeups and fastballs (the animations are actually generated using a 3D model spinning at different RPMs!). It's hard to see, I admit, but the difference is there. Check back in on Learn mode where we've added some more information and keep practicing!
