Description
Where 70,000+ boaters share their journeys, make friends, get help, and drop anchor in a community that gets it.
SeaPeople is a social tracking app built for life on the water—designed by and for people who love boats, sailing, and exploring together.
Whether you're cruising for the afternoon, planning a multi-day passage, or connecting with others at the sand bar, SeaPeople helps you stay visible, share your journey, and build meaningful connections with a community that understands your lifestyle.
Real-Time Tracking and Logging
Start tracking with a tap—no extra hardware required. Share your trip in real time with friends, family, or the wider community. View estimated time and distance to destination while underway, and break longer journeys into day-by-day segments for easier review. At the end of each voyage, your digital logbook includes distance, speed, and crew data to help you reflect, plan, and remember.
Interactive Sharing, During and After Your Trip
Capture your experience as it happens. Add photos, log entries, and stats during your trip, giving others a real-time view into your adventure. Once you’re back on land, enhance your logbook with video, comments, or animations, and share it privately or socially.
Community Messaging and Map-Based Communication
Easily connect with nearby mariners, with the ability to message individuals and groups. Drop a hail that appears on the map and prompts replies from people close by. Use group chats to stay connected with friends, coordinate raft-ups, or meet others who are cruising near you. See where others are chatting from in a unique map view.
Discover New Destinations and Fellow Mariners
Through users' logbook entries, explore boaters' routes, anchorage info, and real-time updates from others on the water. Filter the map to see who’s nearby, where your friends are, or to find a date or crew. Learn from others who’ve been where you’re headed, or use hails to leave insights for those following behind.
Participate in Challenges and Earn Recognition
Join curated challenges sponsored by marine brands and designed to keep you inspired on the water. Whether it’s a mileage goal, visiting new places, or simply staying active on the water, you’ll earn recognition and build your profile along the way.
Privacy and Control, On Your Terms
Choose to go live, stay hidden, or only share while tracking. Set your location sharing preferences and visibility on the social feed. Your data, your control—always.
Built for the Boating Life
SeaPeople is powered by a passionate team of lifelong mariners committed to building a better on-water experience. Whether you're on a kayak or a catamaran, exploring local waters or crossing oceans, SeaPeople is your digital companion for recording, sharing, and staying connected.

Ratings and Reviews
A must have…
As someone who has been using the SeaPeople app since its early days, I can’t say enough about how valuable and enjoyable it is. It’s more than just an app—it’s a community. Whether you’re tracking others during a crossing, seeing who’s anchored nearby, or asking and answering questions, it’s all about sailors coming together and sharing knowledge and experiences.
It quickly became my go-to app for creating automatic trip logs, sharing passages on social media, or simply connecting with others in the SeaPeople community. The ease of use and the sense of connection it brings make it an indispensable tool for anyone out on the water.
If you’re a boater, this app is a must-have. I highly recommend it to everyone—it’s made my journeys all the more memorable!

Stephan, it has been so awesome having you aboard SeaPeople. Thanks for sticking it out through beta and believing in us. Your kind words above mean the world to us and are what propel us forward! Thank you!
Best Mate to have Aboard!
We have been cruising for nearly four years now and this app contains a mother lode of treasures! See who’s in the anchorage with you and what they are interested in, join or create a hail channel around those interests, and you have a spearfishing party or salty band of sailors for a beach bonfire or potluck. It’s also handy when the dinghy breaks down outside of the harbor and you’re drifting out into the Atlantic and need a tow in (ask me how I know). This app has so many more useful applications than I have the time or patience to describe in a review- so just download it and discover them for yourselves!
Developer Response ,
Thanks for that great review. And yes... we do want to hear the whole story about you drifting into the open ocean. So glad to hear that SeaPeople may have saved your life? Or at least saved you a swim.
Nascent App has issues w/ spam & safety
As a woman sailor on this app, I have been getting more spam and unsolicited dating requests. One user I blocked subsequently messaged me to ask why I blocked them. There is currently little way for the app to combat spam, stalking, and unsolicited DMs like on an app like Instagram. It’s ruining the experience and frustrating that there appears to be nowhere to report on safety or spam.
Add that the app wants to know my location at all times (yes you can turn off location sharing, but the app will constantly remind you to turn it back on). This resulted in a potential security breech for me as I turned on the app to check a message and the app immediately identified my location on a job where I needed security clearance. Not to mention the potential for stalkers and other bad actors to use this information maliciously. The app needs better security management.
Developer Response ,
Hi there—sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. We take safety and spam seriously and want to assure you that SeaPeople includes robust tools for both.
Every user profile, comment, post, and group includes ‘Report’ and/or ‘Block’ options, which we monitor closely. We take swift and regular action when issues are flagged, and our goal is to make the platform safe and welcoming for everyone.
We also provide flexible options for location sharing, so you’re always in control. Whether you want to be totally hidden, pinned in place, or share your live location (like AIS) for safety while underway—it’s all up to you. We encourage you to explore these settings based on your current boating needs.
As we’re just 6 months post-launch, we know there’s still work to do. We’re actively building out automated spam detection and other tools to stay ahead of bad actors. Your feedback helps shape what we prioritize, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share it.
If you ever need help adjusting your location settings or anything else, our support team and online Help Center are always available. Thanks for being part of the SeaPeople community—we hope you’ll explore all these options we currently provide and continue to check in and see how we’re improving.
