Description

SecureCRT is a go-anywhere SSH/Telnet app with rock-solid remote access and terminal emulation on your iPhone and iPad. SecureCRT has advanced session management that lets you create folders to organize sessions and import sessions from your desktop version of SecureCRT.

SecureCRT makes it easy to:

- Access business applications securely on UNIX, Linux, or VMS from your iPhone or iPad with rich emulation support.
- Configure, manage, and customize sessions to keep on top of your workload.
- Depend on the open standard Secure Shell (SSH2) protocol.

Key Features:

- Choose from emulations like VT100/102/220, ANSI, SCO ANSI, Wyse 50/60, Xterm, and Linux console
- Customize session settings for firewalls, logon data, authentication, agent, emulation, ANSI, font, and more
- Import sessions from your desktop version of SecureCRT
- Run multiple sessions at a time
- Connect to the same host multiple times
- Organize sessions into folders
- Troubleshoot connections with trace options

Nouveautés

Version 3.0.1

Changes in SecureCRT 3.0.1
--------------------------

Vulnerability Fix:

- SSH2: For some algorithms, an attacker can manipulate the packets sent during key exchange to cause some packets to be removed, which compromises channel integrity. A "Strict KEX" extension was implemented to address this vulnerability (CVE-2023-48795). In order to use the "Strict KEX" extension, the extension must be supported by both the client and the server.

Bug Fixes:

- On iOS 17, when a text selection was started in the terminal view, SecureCRT may have crashed.

- On iOS 17, if the backspace key was held down while focus was in the terminal, the key did not repeat.

- On iOS 16, when scrolling into the scrollback buffer in a session configured with a large font size, scrolling back down to the prompt may have failed.

- If the public key specified for a session contained a "." in the filename, an error that the private-key file could not be found was reported.

Not bad, but could be better

I’ve used SecureCRT on Windows, macOS/OSX, and Linux for about as long as I can remember, so I of course had to have it for iOS as well. It’s not bad, but some of the things that would make it better are support for TouchID/FaceID, Dark Mode support, and the ability to import sessions from a desktop where the keys snd such are stored separately (because as it is right now, you have to undo that (merging things back together) and then export the sessions in order to import them to the iOS app) - it’s a pretty annoying way to do have to do it each time you need to sync your saved sessions. Either an option needs to be added to the desktop apps to temporarily merge the settings/keys or the iOS app needs to be modified to support importing separate keys.

Showing it’s age

This is a really good ssh client, but is really showing it’s age.

Lack of biometric security is a big drawback.

It would also be good to sync host information with the Mac and windows versions via iCloud.

Unusable Scrolling behavior

I LOVE the SecureCRT desktop app. Unfortunately it’s capability and reliability aren’t shown in the ipad version. Was hoping to have an easy way to manage network equipment when walking around the building with only my ipad mini, without needing my laptop on me at all times. Unfortunately the scrolling behavior in this app makes it unusable. It won’t stay snapped to the bottom of the screen when trailing a log or even typing. It randomly snaps to the top of a session. It scrolls down in slowmo and erratically snaps to the top as you try to get to your current place in the shell. And 90% of the time, it doesnt adjust the bottom of the window so your cursor ends up BEHIND the touch keyboard so you have to guess what you’re typing.
