This not a easy to setup app, it would be hard to understand.
If you looking for “make it great” one-button app - it's not.
I wish you think twice before buying this app, read manual and explore examples at ashshaosh.ru/self-a-fuzz
Launch this app before insertion into IAA host.
Self-a-Fuzz its a distortion audio effect and pretends on the name of the dirtiest distortion ever. It uses noise-shaping and couple overdrives to bring unusual deformations to your sounds.
As source of noise you can use noise generators, input source and drone synth with 5 oscillators and pitch detection. You can filter your noise with bandpass, VCF and 9-line equaliser.
Shaping-modulation unit have 11 methods to mix up signals.
After this you also can drive your mess with 4 overdrives and it have randomisers!
+ Audiobus and IAA
+ White/pink noise generators
+ Input as modulator for self
+ Drone with sinus, saw, square, triangle and table oscillators
+ Pitch detection for drone
+ Bandpass, VCF and 9-line equaliser
+ 11 types of signal mixing to combine source with noise
+ 4 overdrives
+ Lowpass and limiter on output
+ Internal keyboard for setup drone chord or play
+ MIDI-in to controll drone and filters frequencies
+ 4-voice polyphony for received notes
+ Save your setups to presets
+ In app recording
+ Audioshare export and copy to clipboard
+ Randomisers to mess up knobs and buttons
+ 8 monitors to look inside sound chain
If you ignore manual, i promise, you’ll feel yourself like Vincent Vega in famous gifs.
- Updated all necessary libraries
- Fixed bug in recordings table -> open file menu gesture changed from "tap" to "swipe to the left", now you can finally export all your recordings to Audioshare and copy to clipboard.
- Limiter now works harder

Effect Options Galore
You have lots of options for filtering, adding noise, or mixing in shaped waveforms into your input audio. Anything from mild to heavy distortion can be created with the app. There are some nice automation and MIDI controls for the app too. Despite the developer's warning about the app being difficult to understand, reading the online manual on the website will help you understand what's happening with the app so you can start using it effectively.
Good sounds, dislike the UI
The sounds are crazy and quite varied. There is a lot of control, chaotic as it may be.
However, it seems like the UI is designed to be “creative” instead of useful. In my opinion, UI should be as intuitive as possible, and form follows function, all that. I find it distracting and not really my favorite to use, hence minus at least one star for the UI alone.
Developer Response ,
Sad to read this, I put my brain's CPU to limit trying to fit all controls in few screens.
Anyway, description is pointing on heavy understandable application ;)
Hope you'll can use it and have fun!
I got lost in knob turning for a day or so adding distortion to tiny fragments of sound the app seems to let leak through a mesh of goodness whilst the knobs make little spiked tunnels the bits of sound come through with a vengeance it seems. Not a good description. Glad it's meandered over to the U.S. App Store finally!
Please keep these crazy sound mutilation tools coming. Screw a pretty UI - it's all about the sound. Thanks for your hard work.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
