Description

Semantle is a definition-based word search game, unlike any other! As you make guesses, you are given a rating of how similar your guess is to the target word. Warmer guesses will appear green with a higher score, while colder guesses show up as colorless and low in number.

Semantle is CHALLENGING and will make you work to figure out the daily word; no walk in the park here! Hop on with your friends & family to challenge each other and show off your Semantle skills.

How is similarity determined? The Semantle-Space is built from Google's word2vec database, which puts words in a large space with locations determined by the context (or semantics) that the word is normally used for.

Semantle the game was invented by David "Novalis" Turner; this app was developed by Red Avocado and MPL Enterprises and is now the official mobile app of Semantle.

Addicting

I have played wordle (and quordle and octordle) but they do not use your brain in the same way that Semantle does. In Semantle you are exploring ideas and language and then really working on your vocabulary and word association as you get closer to the daily word. Sometimes I find the word in 30 or 40 words and other times it’s more like hundreds. If I finish quickly but still want more play time I’ll go back and try to guess the top 10 words.
This is the app that should get promoted as good for your brain, it is surely superior to word searches and anagramming games for making you think!

So fun! One wish…

I am having so much fun with this game. It is a great challenge and keeps me very entertained. My only wish is that we could see our guesses in numerical order as well as how we currently see them by similarity. Once the word is guessed, it would be fun to go back and see the path that we took to get there.

Challenging but sometimes mystifying.

I am a sucker for word games and I’m pretty good at them. I always get Queen Bee and Wordle. I solve this game about half the time. It’s supposed to be a context based game but sometimes the context doesn’t make much sense. Today’s word was Alike; some of the closest words were legions, spellbind, clamored, roomful, both, universally. Frankly, I don’t see much relational context among any of these words. No wonder I didn’t get it. So I think the algorithm needs work.
