THE Go-to SQL Tool for Experts and Novices

Sequel Ace is an unofficial "sequel" to longtime macOS tool Sequel Pro. Sequel Ace is a fast, easy-to-use Mac database management application for working with MySQL & MariaDB databases.

With Sequel Ace, you can write custom queries, or utilize the built-in filtering system to scope down to just what you're looking for. SSH, socket, and local connections are all supported, making all your databases accessible with ease.

Sequel Ace is open source! If you experience issues or have suggestions, check out the GitHub repository to get involved - https://github.com/Sequel-Ace/Sequel-Ace

I can finally close tabs! haha

EDIT: Reducing to 4 stars (maybe 3). This program seems to have some of the same ol' problems that made Sql Pro very annoying to use. I still encounter the issue in Sequel Ace that I experienced in Sql Pro where dragging the window from one monitor to the next will cause the query window to sort of, slide up behind the menu bar/buttons at the top of the window and you lose the top of your page and queries. This forces the user to restart to program which is a huge pain when you have four or five server tabs open with multiple queries you didn't want to lose.
There is also an issue where you cannot select the query by putting your cursor in the query. You need to select some character and delete the charact and retype it to activate the query again. I think the release notes mention they just fixed this but the notes are very short so I'll just need to see if it's actually resolved.

Original review: I've been using Sequel Pro for a couple of years and this is identical. Very well done. After changing two of the font sizes in Sequel Ace Preferences I was able to get it looking exactly like Sequel Pro that I'm used to. And now I can forget about some of the bugs from Sequel Pro like not being able to close tabs. This app looks bug free after a half day of use.

An indispensable tool for your database toolkit.

This is a handy, quick, Mac native tool for working with MySQL databases. Sure, it's got all your normal tools for working with databases, see table info, details, change schemas, write sql etc. but there's a lot of little hidden gems. Write a query or filter the rows in a database and if needs be you can select all the rows and copy it as a giant SQL Insert statement. Very handy for getting test data from a production database into your test database. Poke around in the tool, you'll be surprised at some of it's features. It's not perfect, if possible I would have given it 4.5 stars. There's some quirks that will drive you crazy. Getting the bundle, i.e. plugin to format your sql statement takes some real digging on the inter webs to make work. That could definitely be a lot easier to do. However, it is open source and available on Git Hub and I know the Moballo, LLC team is focused on trying to address some of the quirks. And, I know that it's already getting a following on Git. Looking forward to seeing all the enhancements to come.

Hey Astro269,
Thank you for the incredibly detailed review! We hope to be making quite a few fixes to those quirks over the next few months! :)
Happy querying!

Cannot Thank You Enough

And I'd love to thank you monetarily if possible. Sequel Pro was a daily-use tool for years, and honestly, it probably would still be right now. In time, it did begin to feel a little stale, though, albeit bug-free and stable for the most part.

Sequel Ace has become the daily-use option now, replacing its predecessor. The team has earned major respect in my book: the team could have easily churnt out a re-branded identical copy, tacked on a $50 price tag, and promised the world in upcoming releases, something seen far too often unfortunately.

However, as true professionals do, it appears they addressed known bugs first, made it feature-complete to Sequel Pro, ensured stability, mitigated panic and mass exodus in the rebranding efforts, and they're continuing to impress with every new tag they push.

Seriously, to the team behind this work in progress, I applaud and hold in high regard! THANK YOU!
