Description

SetMyCamera Pro is the one utility every photographer should have.

SetMyCamera is for photography enthusiasts and professionals. SetMyCamera is a powerful tool to assist in configuring your camera to capture perfect photos. SetMyCamera can be used with any DSLR, SLR, film or digital camera with user adjustable settings.

SetMyCamera can be used as a field guide or teaching assistant. Animated graphics provide a visual learning guide while the ease of use allows for testing optional camera settings.

SetMyCamera Pro offers a rich feature set for more experienced photographers and can be upgraded to even more advanced features.

Main Features of SetMyCamera:

Depth of field describes the region of the photo that will be in sharp focus. An animated graphic outlines the region in focus in addition to the hyperlocal region. Use of speed boosters, teleconverters, bellows, extension tubes and diopters are supported. Adjustments for photo print sizes or viewing distances are included as an advanced feature.

Reverse depth of field will determine optimal focus point and optimal aperture (f/stop) or lens focal length. Enter near and far in focus points and reverse depth of field finds the best lens focal length, aperture and focus distance. The animated graphic assists in visualizing the settings.

Angle of view information displayed with an animated graphic enables optimal lens selection for perfectly framed photos. Alternative options include reverse angle of view calculations. Great for determining subject photo dimensions, distance or lens choices.

Notebook for photo session notes. Predefined categories include film roll or flash cards, photo details, camera settings, lighting, weather conditions and other details.

Flash information to determine optimal settings when a camera flash is used including calculations for ISO, aperture, distance and flash power settings.

Information for exposure value, neutral density filters and reciprocity.

Equivalence calculator to compare sensor, film or imaging sizes to standard 35mm.

Remote camera triggering for supported cameras. Great for group photos, long exposure, high dynamic range or other advanced compositions. Visit http://setmycamera.com/smcpro/diy/ir/ for supported cameras.

Shutter speed recommendations to prevent blurred photos based on your camera and target scene.

Field of view utility to assist in composing photos. Includes hot spot detection and motion stabilization. Can be used with iPhone/iPad’s built-in cameras.

For post production is a utility for optimal print size. Based on factors of dots per inch/cm, viewing distance, film or file type and camera or scan resolution.

Includes an iPhone companion app for Apple Watch.

An in-app-tutorial explains the use of each feature. Easy thumbwheel settings for fast inputs without typing. Animated graphics for ease of learning in addition to visualizing result.

Extensive list of pre defined cameras or define your own. Supports Imperial and Metric units.

Best $5 I Ever Spent!

Awesome app!! It does exactly what is says: it calculates DoF, it gives a FoV preview (my favorite - with live histogram!), it calculates the minimum shutter speed required (using live view for calculations!), and even gives you a remote trigger mode for so many camera models (with a home made $2 adapter), among many other features! What amazed me the most though is their unbelievable customer support! I asked them (emailed) for a little fix this morning, an error message for my Nikon D600 under the remote camera trigger tab. Not only that they answered in less than 2 hrs., but they fixed the issue and uploaded the update right then. Wow!! I also asked in my email for an added feature (precise support for 85mm lens), and they already put my request on the next update list. I am VERY happy with this app and their creators, and I really think that every serious photographer should get it.

Like the app, but

It does tend to be a bit confusing regarding the differences in the SetMyCamera family of apps. Four versions?

But what is most frustrating/irritating is having to pay a total of $12 to have the pro version on both my iPhone and iPad (and neither even support IR control for my Canon EOS RP — although that wasn’t my primary reason for buying).

It’s a nice app, great interface, but, for all the more it does, it seems overpriced when compared to the vast majority of other photography apps. If it could be purchased for a total of $5.99 on both iPhone and iPad AND IR control on EOS RP, then i wouldn’t hesitate to give it 5 stars.

Developer Response ,

One purchase does cover both the iPhone and iPad if you are using the same Apple account on each. Simply contacting SetMyCamera support would have provided assistance as needed. The Canon EOS RP does not support IR.

Misleading

You paid 10 USD basically to have some calculations tabs and see all the features that a suscription for 3$\month could give you. You don’t feel at all that you are in a paid version.
Very disappointed. Also, not intuitive. Bad marketing, bad business implementation.
