A disappearing playboy. Laudanum. An undertaker's mute. It's all in a day's work for Sherlock Holmes - until Watson is kidnapped.

"Ink Spotters is, by far, the best interactive story app I have ever encountered."

Sherlock Holmes: The Art of Detection is a brand new kind of interactive graphic novel - and an Apple Store "Games We Love" Selection!

Written by NY Times best-selling author Sean Stewart, The Art of Detection has been created by some of the most brilliant minds in casual games. More than just a story, you will use your wits to follow Sherlock from Victorian high society to the seedy underworld of gaslight London.

The Art of Detection reads like a comic … except that every page is hidden but one. You come to that first page like a detective arriving at a crime scene. Your challenge: find the clues that will uncover the rest of the story.

Getting started is simple–just type a word you think might lead to more of the story. You might want to learn more about "KATE" the tavern wench, find out who is lurking in the passing "CARRIAGE", or inspect the "BLOODSTAIN" on a ransom note.

Each clue you find unlocks another page, and brings you closer to solving the case!

The Art of Detection has more than 100 gorgeous panels to unlock. Do a couple between chores, or settle in for hours of entertainment. When you have uncovered the last page, you’ll have a beautifully illustrated adventure that's yours to keep forever.

The Art of Detection is the first of many upcoming releases from Ink Spotters, a new game publisher from interactive fiction pioneer Sean Stewart and casual gaming vets Ed Allard and Matt Scott (Feeding Frenzy, Bejeweled, Plants vs Zombies). Look for Sherlock Holmes: The Last Breath - coming soon!

“Ink Spotters is, by far, the best interactive story app I have ever encountered, and the game feels like an essential part of the experience. It’s not a comic book with a gaming element as an afterthought; it’s a full-fledged mystery game with a story as its reward.”

“Mixing the puzzles with the story made me feel like I was on the trail with Mr. Holmes himself! Deductive word-bending mystery solving at its best!”
– Graeme Devine, creator of The 7th Guest

“A true innovation in graphic narrative. Ink Spotters seamlessly merge great stories with a format that empowers each reader to discover them in a unique way.”
-- Jordan Weisman, creator of BattleTech, Shadowrun, WizKids and FASA.

“Ink Spotters are both beautiful and addictive. Built by one of the best storytellers in the world, they will keep both experienced and first-time gamers entertained. Highly recommended!”
-- Elan Lee, creator of Exploding Kittens

Delightful and intriguing

Guessing clues from panels to unlock new panels runs the player through the clever story out of order and the reward is to have them all unlocked and then you have a lovely Holmes comic with adventure, violence and humour which you can then read, complete and in order. I found this engaging and just challenging enough to keep my interest and the writing and artwork are delightful. Bonus are a few little entries with historical factoids of interest. Recommended. Looking forward to the next one.

relaxing and interesting

Not the most challenging game I've played, but it's just enough to keep me engaged, and I really like the nonlinear way the story is revealed. It creates a true sense of detective work.

Surprisingly Addicting!

Not a fan of paying for apps. But I’ve been following one of the creators which peaked my curiosity. Now that I’ve been playing I can say it’s worth the cost. A little time consuming. But very difficult to put down until the case is solved. Plus I’ve always wanted to be a P.I.
