Shire Calendar 4+

The calendar of the Hobbits

Sebastian Staudt

    • $0.99

Description

The Shire Calendar brings a bit of Middle-earth to your iOS device and Apple Watch. It will display the current day in the calendar of the Hobbits in the app or optionally in one of the available widgets or Watch complications.

The date of the Shire calendar is exactly calculated based on the current date and J.R.R. Tolkien's explanations from the appendices of The Lord of the Rings. All characteristic rules of the Hobbits' calendar are considered and accurately reproduced.

What’s New

Version 2.8.2

• Fix number grouping in years since macOS 14.1
• Improve widget compatibility with macOS 14

Interesting

It is a really interesting app. It’s really cool to be able to live my life a little more like the little people of old. I gave four stars because it really could do more stuff for $0.99US. I’ve gotten more from certain free apps. It’s fun and interesting though. Love it!

Date adjustment

The app seems to run a day ahead of my calendar date, as the shire calendar is supposed to be 10 days ahead of the Gregorian calendar. I wanted to use this to see the current date according to my location, which renders this app hardly helpful if it’s not matching my calendar. There’s no way to adjust it, and no way to contact the developer as it just takes you to their website with no contact information outside of Twitter (which I don’t use). Pretty disappointed.

Thanks for your review.

Please remember that 2024 is a leap year. Leap years cause a shift of the Shire dates from March to midsummer. After that the added Overlithe corrects the apparent difference.

Please feel free to contact support@koraktor.de and thanks for the reminder that the website is missing this information.

No toggle

I get the date but the “ show more” doesn’t work.

Developer Response ,

This is fixed with version 1.1.2.
