Description

If you've already purchased the iOS app, the Mac companion app is free to download. The iOS app and Mac app are bundled together as one price.

With Shortcuts Remote you can connect remote-controlling your Mac with Siri.

For example, tell Siri on your HomePod to mute the volume on your Mac.

Or tell Siri on Apple Watch to pause Netflix on your Mac.

Or use the Shortcuts app to create more sophisticated workflows – controlling every aspect of your Mac with the power of AppleScript.

And the best thing: Shortcut Remote control even works from remote: All data is securely synced via iCloud. So you can even take a screenshot on your Mac while at the gym.

A great start

This app has a ton of potential! I’m impressed with the features it already has, and I can’t wait to see if the developer will add more. I’m having trouble getting my Mac to do things on my phone(s), but it might just be user error.

Hardly works

I looked at this app because Siri on the HomePod doesn't invoke my Mac for shortcuts, and I really wanted a way to invoke them on my mac from other devices. I got this app after seeing that it supports running AppleScript remotely, thinking I could just write an AppleScript command to invoke the shortcut as a worst-case scenario. I ended up finding out that shortcut actions often get lost and never fire, and for AppleScript specifically, *never* works, even when verifying it comes in on the history. Trying the exact same script in the script editor and osascript terminal command works fine, but through this app, it doesn't do anything. I'd rather make my own implementation that always works than use one that might or might not.

It mostly works... mostly...

This seems like a great app, and it could be, but there are some issues...

It generally connects right up, but I wish the connection settings were accessible. Small complaint, but running this one two Macs is an instant headache.

Remote actions. About half of the advertised features work. AppleScript is, notably, not among the functional features.

Still Intel based. This is nitpicky sure, but it's the only non-Silicon app on my M1 MBP and I have to think that contributes to the instability of the app (it sometimes just silently crashes for seemingly no reason).

This app is a good idea but the exicusion isn't fantastic. Perhaps the next version will be better....
