Shoveler the person - 5 stars, Shoveler the APP - 3.5

The service they provided last winter and this was great. So at that level the APP delivers - it connects those who need shoveling to shovelers and shovelers who know what they are doing. However, the APP itself needs work. You can’t check the status of your job and have no idea if/when someone will be showing up - other than the initial There are Shovelers in your Area when you start the job. It seems the Shovelers have no way to text you either. And the tech is kind of clunky all around. I’m also not sure about giving shovelers a default 5* rating after 12 hours of no action. A lot of users seem to be older. Not sure they know to do the rating and it’s not obvious. You have to refresh the APP, then notice the red Checkmark, click it and then you get to the review - and the tip. Im guessing/hoping people tip in cash as I did because there is no automatic review and tip request like an Uber.

Great Job and Quick Response Time!

I recently moved to CT from FL so I am not used to snow or the work that goes along with it. This is my first time using this app. I needed to hire a crew to shovel my driveway, sidewalk and walkway. I feel the price was reasonable, and when I created the job, I was careful to include all areas that I needed shoveled. I chose to add my driveway (3 car), sidewalk and two separate walkways (one for the actual walkway from my garage and another to account for the steps and small front porch area). I felt this was fair. I also put comments in the special instructions section explaining exactly which areas I wanted shoveled. I added a pic too, but I agree with a previous reviewer that you should be able to upload more than one pic. The crew (2 guys) showed up in about 2 hours and completed the job quickly and efficiently. I am happy with the results. I was not sure if I would be able to leave a tip once the work was completed, so I added extra money to the job price up front. However, there is an opportunity to add a tip when you go in to approve the job and leave your rating. You only approve the job after you are notified that it was marked complete. Overall great experience.

Clearing steps in the app is not intuitive

I spent $75 - which is pricey- and a nice job was done on the sidewalk. However, there is no way in the app to tell them to do the steps as well. I tried putting in the comments that the steps needed done as well but apparently no one reads the comments so I am not sure of their purpose. The funny part is the shoveler asked about the steps before marking the job as complete and the company told the shoveler to only do the sidewalk. Kinda useless to spend $75 to clear a 50’ sidewalk and still have a slip and fall risk on your property. Also, I had a 10% one time coupon that I was trying to use. I posted the job once and a shoveler accidentally accepted the job. However, when I went to reactivate the job the app would not allow me. After that the app would not allow me to use the coupon again so I was out 10%.

After working with the company they did get the shoveler back out to my house to clear the steps, so I am raising my review some but this was still a frustrating and painful experience. As a tip for anyone the company said to pick a walkway if you need steps done. This should be more clear in the app that walkway = steps to this company.
