Very good—except on longer recordings

I’ve used this app a lot in the last year or more, primarily with the MVi, to record simple live performances around town. When it works, it’s a fantastic app. Compression settings work well without harshening the sound, it’s pretty easy to change your audio quality, and it never has trouble recognizing which Shure device I’ve plugged in.

My major issue is that I can’t leave the app alone for more than about an hour. On two separate recordings on two separate devices, the app has crashed after about 90 minutes of recording. The first crash was on an iPad mini 2, so you could argue aging hardware—but the second was on a 2018 iPad with >50 GB free space. I didn’t lose any audio that had been recorded, thankfully, but I still missed about a third of the event each time. Because I can’t rely on it to behave without watching it, I’ve stopped using it for recordings longer than 60 minutes.

One feature I would like would be the ability to record a second track simultaneously, either at an adjustable dB level below the main recording, or automatic peak reduction.

Needs some bug fixes, was near perfect before

I've been using this app alongside the MV88 for a few years now and the app has always been a reliable way to capture sound, edit fade and length of the audio, different file formats to share, etc. The trouble since this last update is the scrobbling on the playback skips ahead a few tracks or will stop the audio. Also, the controls on the fade have always been difficult to use, but now they're way harder. I spend a lot of time trying to tap and swipe the controls and end up grabbing the beginning or end markers.

Basic effects like reverse, gain, reverb and normalizing would be great additions to a future release. But for now, please fix the issues mentioned.

Love It So Much, I bought 2!!!

These mics are super easy to use, and after figuring out the app, by doing a little reading, I really enjoyed the results! I do so much recording with iPhones, and now that I have my new iPhone X, I have bought a second Shure MV88 mic to use with my 5s to record audio only, and my 6s to I record video and audio together! I then will mix them with Board mixes to get the crowd ambience sound, and it all turns out so fantastically. All the musicians I have filmed have commented that they enjoy the sound from this mic much better than they do the native iPhone mics. It doesn’t seem to work as well with my iPhone X, but only if I change lenses in the middle of doing a video, (the sound drops out for just a second, i.e., using the optical zoom). Every time I use these mics, people stop and ask me about them!
